When the economy eventually heads back up as it historically does, what are breweries going to wish they did during these times to set themselves up for thriving in the next boom? That's my favorite thing to think about at the moment.

@hopnotes 100% agree. But I think we need to remember ILCC is a political action committee looking out for their members. not consumers, not Small retailers. Does this make their proposal bad? No? But we need to look at it with open eyes.

@beercruncher Yeah I don’t think many people really care that much. Although I do sympathize with anyone who’s go-to was Fat Tire, since there isn’t an easy substitution for it.

@hopnotes How long until craft is buying and selling brands like the big guys do/did? Like New Belgium spins off Fat Tire and sells it to the highest bidder.

As much as I'd love to be the old man shouting at the cloud on this one, hard to argue with this:

The reinevntion of New Belgium is complete. It's now principally an IPA brewery; its legendary former flagship exists in name only, converted to a beer "lighter and more golden in color." One of the industry's most interesting/least likely transformations of the last decade.

@beercruncher Also, I heard someone say that “Czech” was the lager version of “hazy” - put that word on a beer and it will sell.

@beercruncher My thought is that more singular beers are being turned into styles. Tipopils clones are Italian Pilsners, U Fleku clones are Czech Dark Lagers. But yeah oddly popular right now. Not sure why. I enjoy them though.

Trend Alert 🔥 "Dark Czech Lagers" are scorching hot with small breweries in Chicago. Marketing-wise, seasonality obviously, but I like how the style explains itself, unlike say Schwarzbier. Taste-wise, I think the lower roast character is preferred to a wider degree. Thoughts?

How long do you think until our home TVs begin being mounted (optionally) on a motorized swivel, where certain types of programming or content is filmed to watch in portrait dimensions instead of landscape? It sounds weird, but I think it'll happen sooner than we think.
