@theodorus5 @amyneurons I recently moved out of freesurfer DKT atlas space (used by Brainder) into MNI atlas space and it makes all the difference because I can use registered average brains in the same coordinates as tractography, vasculature, etc.

@amyneurons It's getting better but still too "Fried-egg and sausagey" It mixes Barker's Neuron with an anatomical model neuron.

@InsiderTakes @Jon_Hartley_ My father worked for Industry Canada specifically around the aerospace industry. The death of the Avro Arrow was a bitterness he held on to his whole life; there was a persistent shame that it was never made.

@Jon_Hartley_ It never even got to production. We obsess over a domestic technology we never built at scale. In a sense, it’s a great metaphor for Canada’s innovation conundrum.

@InsiderTakes My dog dislocated her hip. Emergency vet treatment within a few hours. Vet clinic did xrays under sedation and relocated the hip the following day. Doctor even called to follow up and see how they're doing. Never seen a human get this level of care.

My dissertation is just out today: hdl.handle.net/10900/176447 Timely for the current discussion. It covers predicting neural function underlying behavior with connectomes & ML, why single models aren't enough, and remaining challenges for whole-brain simulation (eg. Chapter 4.1.1).

Here's an #visualization of the visual processing in the flies eye, one of the most beautiful structures in nature. First we see photoreceptors in red and blue, camera spins showing columnar circuitry for processing the 'pixels' of the visual field (from flwire.ai)

@amyneurons Hell yes. I start my days xc skiing through the botanical gardens, talking though my days to-do with Chad via bluetooth beanie. Stop for my first working hour somewhere on the way, then more ski and deep work. I dream of the day when I can orchestrate coding agents while skiing

This morning I did tai chi on a frozen lake. Late this afternoon I took my daughter ice skating on the same lake. In between, I took a couple zooms and vibe coded a new webpage. May the modern era enable more days like this!
