On the Controversy Over Who Will Deliver the Message from Akal Takht on June 6-- (1) Sikhs today tend to be overly focused on events. (2) While events are undoubtedly important, they do not occur in a vacuum. (3) It is the underlying situations that give rise to events. Therefore, understanding, analyzing, and addressing the situation itself is of primary importance. (4) Without this deeper engagement, nothing concrete or lasting can be achieved. The aftermath of the mass uprising in 2015 stands as a striking example—despite the scale of mobilization, the absence of strategic direction led to no long-term outcomes. (5) In the current context, Sikh organizations should prioritize initiating a process to restore the governance of Akal Takht Sahib along traditional Panthic lines. Instead, the focus has unfortunately shifted to debates over who will or will not deliver the message on June 6. (6) In today’s atmosphere of disarray, no such message—regardless of the messenger—is likely to have any meaningful impact.

The RSS’s diasporic wing, (the HSS) attempted to host an exhibit at the museum of Surrey which included corrosive rhetoric like “Sikhs are Hindus”. Within 24 hours of the sangat finding out, it was removed. If anyone wants to cry about this, make sure you can back up the HSS/RSS
