It's a really bad idea. House are expensive and a huge burden. If the markets rough they are super hard to sell.
You are FAR better off doing this.
Take the 500-1,000,000 (Etc amount).
Invest it in boring stuff.
Pay your rent from the dividends of the investments. Same safety net. None of the burden.
Sometimes people make money on their homes.
Often repairs, taxes, fees, etc make it an endless pit of money. If you are young it also locks you down hard.

Considering buying a house for a while now.
Financially I'm not sure whether it's a good investment, but I'd love to have a long-term residence (talking decades).
I also think it gives peace of mind, a place of "FU" for those who know the famous scene from The Gambler.
Curious to hear from those who did buy a house: Do you regret it, or do you still consider it a good decision?
And also curious to hear from people who decided not to buy one or don't plan to (and why)

🚨🇮🇷🇺🇸 The world listened to Trump's speech and hit the sell button... Asian markets cratering overnight. Japan down 1.4%. South Korea down 2.6%. Oil surging back above $105 after briefly dipping on peace hopes. Gold and silver collapsing as safe-haven trades unwind. Gas just crossed $4 a gallon for the first time since Russia invaded Ukraine. Diesel at $5.50. Oil futures posted their largest monthly dollar gain in history, up 51% in March alone. And oil executives are warning that physical crude is even more expensive than futures suggest. Trump promised 2-3 more weeks. Markets heard "more bombing" and priced accordingly. The two-day rally that preceded the speech evaporated in 19 minutes. The energy shock is spreading beyond fuel into aluminum, fertilizer, helium, and semiconductor supply chains. Traders are repricing inflation assumptions in real time. The speech was supposed to calm the world. cmon. 0xngmi called this exact play a year ago - construct a deliberately terrible swap, let a friendly bot extract the value, dirty money comes out the other side as "legit MEV profit."

@GrizMeta In 5-10 years likely when the world uses ISO 20022, and people start realizing there's no use case for Bitcoin, other than some nostalgic keepsake.
