A lot of youngsters won't remember this man as a player. But let me tell you, kids, this man could play! He was a great player.

If the predictions are borne out and Viktor Orbán is out, can we agree that he was not a dictator? Dictators do not step aside after free elections.

Wes Streeting thinks that a fully funded NHS free from private donors and private profit is ‘pie in the sky’ Funny that it worked for 50 years before it started being sold off isn’t it. But yeh, blame doctors….

@pdutto1 @RucksSake Exactly - it’s bizarre to think it will be bad for English rugby to select our best players for the England team

@RucksSake Saffas play all over the world. Perfectly managed. Come together. Win two world cups. Favourites for a third. Prem club fans will watch their teams no matter who’s playing. Pay the above, anyone else, same as the French. Game on. Don’t do it? No 6N wins. QF/SF at best in WC 🤦‍♂️

@Heccles94 Can you give examples of countries where more socialism works? Genuine question!

Labour have snatched defeat from the jaws of victory. This has led to the rise of the far right. It’s time for real socialism 💚

Quins fans seem absolutely devastated to be losing young Benson. Seems to be quite a serious prospect for them, that we've nabbed. Let's see what he can do, welcome to the family boyo

🤦The 50p tax rate was supposed to raise £2.7bn a year. It raised £1bn. The Energy Profits Levy was forecast at £41.6bn. It raised £17.4bn. The non-dom abolition was meant to raise £34bn. It may raise nothing. 📉This is not bad luck. It is a pattern.

@vb24aw @BBCNewsnight @MattChorley The glib response is: ambition in this case is seeing that they are not mutually exclusive choices and then aiming achieve both :). Also ‘the money’ comes from being competitive, productive creating profit - and you need a bit of ambition for that!

@racingmcgregor @BBCNewsnight @MattChorley Yes. An ambition. But driverless cars don't work on cart driven horses! We have potholes the size of swimming pools, security tags on cheese, nurses at food banks and people living in bus shelters. Let's use our money to sort society out, THEN give it to Elons moon base fund?

“We are living in age where, extraordinarily, people can look upon billionaires as a friend of the common person and these are the people to fix our problems.” Mark Gatiss makes the case to @mattchorley that the world is at risk of being “pushed into madness”. #Newsnight

@benchcover @Heccles94 Because running a business helps a lot with understand the realities of pay, performance and talent. It’s very tricky to get the right balance of these elements to improve an organisation and so the idea of simply paying everyone more seems naive. What would be trying to achieve?

It’s weird that an MPs work is worth an extra 5% this year, but an NHS worker’s work is only worth 3.3% more 🤔

@Heccles94 My point all public sector workers should receive the same percentage pay rise. Hypocrisy & Privilege. It wouldn’t be so bad if they donated to charity with the privilege of all the other things they claim for. The system needs to be reviewed - austerity & cut should apply too

Had more aggression in the past 24hrs for my views on gas than I generally do for talking about antisemitism. Been called a c*nt multiple times. All because I disagree with some people on gas market fundamentals. Crazy stuff.

@BladeoftheS This makes no sense at all - I mean at all - most of the pensions in the UK will own shares in Tesco / markets deploy assets more effectively than governments

Tesco could pay every worker an extra £10,000 and still make a profit. British Gas could pay every worker an extra £35,000 and still make a profit. Shell could pay every worker an extra £300,000 and still make a profit. It is the billionaires who are ripping you off.
