I want to write a piece on how elite western institutions like Stanford, MIT, Oxford etc are at the forefront of AI colonialism (see @_KarenHao's series). The way the silicon valley startup + VC culture & control + the longermism ideology collide to create this horrible scenario.

@_KarenHao @kxphan Our work on data colonialism starts with acknowledging that this is just part of the same long history of colonial power, (neo)liberalism and racism. Throughout history, we've learnt different tactics to subvert that power. Next up: AI.

@_KarenHao @kxphan In Latin America, we talk about multiple colonisations. From Colombus to the US-backed military coups across the continent, there's nothing 'new' about continued colonial power. Boats, guns, neoliberal finance, AI... Same colonialism, new tools.
