@UnderscoreYara The German in the clip doesn't say he is an immigrant but that he came as a 'guest worker' (a particular immigration scheme back than). So no statement about his current status there.

Back in 2014 I was on a walking tour of Dresden and our guide kept referring to the firebombing destroying this or that building until an American girl in her 20s raised her hand to ask "sorry, who firebombed Dresden?" and the group fell so silent you could hear a pin drop

@MattPrinciple @mattyglesias They did rebuild some buildings. For instance the Semper Opera and the Cathedral. Also a lot of the residential buildings surrounding this area were newly built as 90% of city centre was destroyed. And the residential castle is still being restored. 36 years after reunification.

@tobiaschneider volume in shorter time. But once agencies noted this development and they asked you to edit MTs they provide for less pay. This is the standard now. I now have to do more volume to have pre-MT income. My free time remained the same.

@tobiaschneider I'm a professional translator (mostly patents). LLMs hit the translation industry earlier than anybody else (ca. 2017). Translators are paid by volume. For a short while, translators did their machine translations (MTs) on their own and enjoyed that they were able to do the same

I can finish work much faster and more consistently on time using AI, since starting any task is much easier (basically delegate). I'm also never caught in a dead-end or end up kicking myself for massively underestimating an effort. The spare time goes into making things better.
Zara Zhang@zarazhangrui

Almost every AI power user I know is MORE stressed and busier after using AI, not less What people thought AI would do: 10x productivity so that we can finish work earlier & relax more What it’s actually doing: 10x productivity so that we end up with 20x more things to do cos of the sheer possibilities

@Zwirz1 I'm not saying you can't use card in Germany, of course you can but there are a lot of places where it's cash only, this aside from people just preferring to use cash (which naturally is their choice)

Poland Diary, day 46. I still haven't seen what this "Złoty" currency looks like. Digitalized payments are everywhere, everyone pays with their bank card, their phone or "Blik", a stark change from Germany where the population uses physical bank notes and coins. I hope that one day I will get to see what złoty and grosz looks like.

WAS?!

@callmeuschi Nicht unbedingt Hausmannskost...
