The next Louisiana Purchase? Here’s an idea: the United States acquires the Baja California Peninsula from Mexico for $1 to $5 trillion. Every Mexican citizen living in Baja receives dual U.S.-Mexico citizenship, plus a $50,000 investment account. Then America gets to work: world-class infrastructure, deep-water ports, desalination, nuclear energy, housing, universities, and industry. Tijuana and Mexicali could become major reindustrialization zones. In return, the United States gains nearly 1,800 miles of some of the most spectacular coastline on Earth and the chance to build the great new economic region. Is this a crazy idea? Of course. But so was the Louisiana Purchase in 1803.

@rafkoln1kov @klkmanitordx Well why was UK market access in 1800s and first half of 1900s of no use seemingly? US MNC's haven't done much at all of course.

I do feel for the English, out of 55-60 colonies only 4 ( 🇺🇸 🇨🇦 🇳🇿 🇦🇺) are successful The French are worse, out of 30 colonies only 0.5 ( 🇨🇦) turned out successful Let’s compare their former colonies GDP per capita combined today: Spain: $10.7K British: $9.5K French: $2.6K

@joeodonnell91 @klkmanitordx US hasn't done much, if anything it was deporting irish back to ireland helping indirectly, its more a combination of EU and UK market access and right place right time in geopolitics

@rafkoln1kov @klkmanitordx Is Ireland really successful now due to English influence? Place got much poorer over the 19th and 20th century, US influence probably more important.

@blacknredtext nobody was attacking ireland other than uk, there are irish language schools all over the country and it is growing especially with new music in irish, and the point was self governance, which was achieved

I refuse to be outsmarted by a 23-year-old using keyboard shortcuts. I asked a junior analyst to pull the annual turnover data. He did it in 4 seconds. I asked him how he bypassed the manual data entry protocol. He said he just used a VLOOKUP on a spreadsheet he made. I told him that using hidden formulas to obscure his workflow creates an environment of deceit. He asked if I was mad that he saved us three hours of busywork. I explained that efficiency is only valuable when it's transparent to leadership. I noted "relies on digital witchcraft to avoid hard work" in his file. Then I uninstalled Excel from his machine. He can use an abacus until he learns humility.

@SeedOilDsrspctr Zero reason not to honestly. I genuinely doubt the Mexican government and the cartels working together could withstand the full might of a post-annexation US land-air-sea invasion. Also opens the Gulf of California to us fully.
