The #utleg has decided to revise Lincoln's words at Gettysburg as follows "government of the people, by the people, for the people, shall not perish from the earth. Provided, however, that the people vote exactly like we the ever-wise Utah legislature thinks they should vote."

@ReldonPalmer59 @mandalawyerin @Anntrove There was always going to be a primary unless Stuart won C/C. So people can continue to shun signature candidates out of piety but the world has moved on in 12 years. Such pious souls will lose but if their scruples are a comfort in loss, okay. Not sure we’re as close to a

@ReldonPalmer59 @mandalawyerin @Anntrove I like the theory of convention but at this point, that's all it is. There were 4 attendees in my precinct. I don't believe this year's convention to be representative of much more than candidates abilities to stack delegates, which is another huge downside to current conventions

Don’t disagree about Adams at all but in regard to listening to Stephanie I did on multiple occasions because I was a state delegate. But here is the deal, delegates are elected by their neighbors to do the heaving lifting of vetting candidates because most people don’t have the time or inclination. Delegates know because they put in the work and it’s a ton of work. I wonder why Stephanie did not prevail with the many delegates that vetted her and cast their votes at convention. Maybe she was not the best qualified candidate. The delegates did not think she was and thats why she was eliminated. Another question if she believed in herself why did she go the signature route at all? Was it an insurance policy. Did she know she would have a tough time with the delegates? Does she know that the Davis County Republican Party Platform clearly states they don’t support signature gatherers unless they get 70% of the vote? I do agree with you that signature candidates do well and the reason is because they have the money to get the slick ads and publicity out there. The people are prone to fall for this. So the party elects a candidate that bought their way onto the ballot and then the people vote for who has the most signs, the most clever ads, whatever. We should be voting for and electing the most qualified person to do the job representing Utah and Utahns regardless of what their bank account looks like. If you know anything about SB 54 and how it came about you will know that we need to get rid of it or we will eventually get rid of caucus, delegates, convention and end up with jungle primaries which are 100% based on money. Only the rich and plugged in get to play. Trust me you don’t want that because money corrupts everything.

@goud4utah @Anntrove Idk, it was sent to me in text but I’m happy to give credit where due. Let everyone you know in Davis County know that he has primary competition from Stephanie Hollist.

@rageraham @Anntrove Who made this? He’s currently in a primary and the flyer doesn’t mention that. Ballots drop June 2 and the election is June 23. The best bet to knock him out is in the primary election.
