The characters are very well realised. Being products of the lawless American West, they are drawn with rough lines. This not to discount them as simply horrible. Good people are like precious veins of gold strewn in unyielding rock.

Deadwood is a masterpiece. The scripts are sharp and sound like they're ripped out of the classic American novels. Written in iambic pentameter, the dialogue also has a musicality to it. "Change ain’t looking for friends. Change calls the tune we dance to"
