REV. BLACK (who was shot in the head with a pepper ball): “If this is what they’re doing to pastors, journalists, teachers, mothers, and the elderly gathered to sing and pray outside ICE facilities… what might they be doing to our neighbors who are behind those walls?”

@HarryDibbs_ To be fair, jumping to conclusions like that is a pretty understandable and natural thing to do when it’s a defence mechanism that can be the difference between being beaten up in public or not

I mean yeah, decent chance KK is a terf, just as decent a chance that she's not really political and like most of the world is very fond of harry potter. I don't think it's seemly to jump to conclusions

A lot of people have been really hard on the ukhsa, but I don't think it's always fair. They're still a relatively new agency, so I think it's worth taking a moment to highlight some of the considerable achievements of their brief history. ❤️🙌

Everyone's been posting that article by C. S. Lewis where he dismisses the idea of lady priests, and ignoring the fact that the one and only argument against it he presents is that if you let women be priests they'll become heathen papesses who show up to church like this:

St Sophrony of Essex important advice for new converts— “When someone who is not Orthodox comes to the Orthodox Church he must go through a furnace of repentance, of change and regeneration of his entire way of thinking and living. This will take a long time. In order for someone’s positive attitude towards Orthodoxy to become an experience of his heart, he must lead a life of asceticism and crucifixion form many years under the guidance of an experienced spiritual father. Otherwise the ‘old self’ will remain, with the result that unbelief and the inclination to go back to the old way of life will often occur.” Conversion isn’t a “one and done” experience, nor is it solely an intellectual decision. True conversion to Christ is something that is ongoing, and it’s a path that I myself wander from non-stop. May God have mercy on us and always lead us back to the pathway towards communion with Him, no matter how far off the road we find ourselves. *icon below is a commission I completed several years back for an amazing Greek hieromonk who was a disciple of one of St Paisios’ spiritual children.

“That is not a both sides problem.” -3 months after Hortman assassination We need to be soberly honest about what is happening before our very eyes. 9/11 was used as a pretext to invade Iraq. 10/7 was used as a pretext for genocide. Vengeance rhetoric signifies escalation.

It’s amazing how many people think racism or misogyny spoken in a measured tone is dialogue, or worse somehow more Christian than justice spoken with urgency. Tone doesn’t sanctify oppression.

the liberal writer impulse to empathize with the least empathetic party in any situation has long ceased to be an exercise in compassion or humility, it is almost always a way for people to indulge in fantasies of being the most level-headed + benevolent person in the room
dylan saba@shaabiranks

Seeing sections of that Ezra Klein piece has me feeling completely insane. I genuinely cannot comprehend, not even a little bit, what liberals think is going on

Don't believe what you read on here about Blue Sky today. Everyone over there on my feed is condemning the violence, talking about how violent our society has become, and talking about how to stay safe through the violent right wing retribution we assume is coming.

"One of Jesus’ companions reached for his sword, drew it out and struck the servant of the high priest, cutting off his ear. “Put your sword back in its place,” Jesus said to him, “for all who draw the sword will die by the sword."" Mt 26: 51-52 America's gun culture is not Christian.
Shaiel Ben-Ephraim@academic_la

Kirk was clearly wrong, and his death is unfortunate proof of that. When I was in China, more than one person asked, "Why do Americans shoot each other so much?" They only had three mass shootings this century because culturally, the Chinese view guns very negatively. No society needs this many guns. Shootings are not an inevitability. They are a product of our choices and our culture. We can change them both.

I will never downplay the seeds this man has sown. And I will always pray that they wither, so that no one (including him & his children) has to eat from that kinda tree.
