Dear Ram Shroff, One cannot help but be appalled by the language employed by Shiven. It is not merely in poor taste but strikes at the very dignity of the office he holds. In over 45 years of covering sport, I have witnessed strong personalities and heated exchanges, but rarely has one come across an individual whose conduct so consistently lowers the tone of discourse. In that context, your leadership stands out all the more. The dignity with which you conduct yourself, and your willingness to listen to criticism with an open and objective mind reflect the qualities of a true administrator. At a time when restraint and decorum seem in short supply, your approach reassures that the institution is still anchored by maturity and balance. Please be assured that my continued cooperation in promoting our shared passion and common interest in horse racing will remain steadfast, notwithstanding such aberrations. Some individuals lend credibility to racing by merely occupying a chair on the managing committee. And then there’s Shiven Surendranath, who manages to achieve the exact opposite. The man’s conduct and language would embarrass even those who operate without the benefit of refinement. Yet he struts about as if RWITC is his personal estate. For someone entrusted with responsibility, his open talk of laying horses raises serious questions. Is he operating within the legal framework, or does he believe rules are ornamental? His past hardly inspires confidence either, having floated around as a benami owner and a mere cutter for others. His grand attempt at relevance, Turf Parrot, collapsed faster than it was conceived, which says plenty about both vision and execution. The Indian Derby doesn’t derive its stature from the presence of individuals like him. It thrives despite them. His delusion of importance would be amusing if it weren’t so distasteful. RWITC’s marketing arm, incidentally, had no hesitation in reaching out to us, almost pleading for visibility, which we extended without charge out of goodwill. One wonders if the same generosity applies to his so-called marketing brilliance, or if there are quieter transactions that the public isn’t privy to. Let him first demonstrate he can pull a crowd for ordinary race days before masquerading as a marketing genius. Until then, the act is hollow, the claims are louder than the results, and the man himself is little more than a loudspeaker for his own fiction. Frankly, he doesn’t just disappoint, he repulses. Truth is not something he seems acquainted with, but fabrication appears to come effortlessly. People like him are passing storms, noisy, disruptive, and ultimately forgettable. Racing has outlasted better men than him and will certainly outlast him. I won’t stoop to his level to trade lies. If he has any sense left, he should try contributing something of value to the sport instead of reducing it to a stage for his bluster. I can only imagine what men of genuine stature like Ram Shroff and Surendra Sanas must feel, watching this spectacle unfold. To share space, even nominally, with someone so devoid of restraint and basic decorum must be nothing short of embarrassing. These are individuals who built their reputations over decades through substance, dignity, and quiet authority. And here they are, forced into the same frame as a man who seems determined to reduce the discourse to noise, bluster, and self-serving theatrics. It is precisely this contrast that exposes the absurdity of it all. On one side, men who let their work speak. On the other, someone who can’t stop speaking because there is precious little else to show.

Hi Sharan my humble request to you as has been to Shiven is to please stop this. Our industry has enough and more issues which we collectively need to work on and resolve. Let’s all be positive and yes of course as press you and others have the right to be critical about all of us. But will only request it is done in a way that befits the dignity of the sport we all love As must be the replies We are all trying our best with the purest of intentions Let’s work together rather than against Humble request.
