The major issue with Zack synder superman was that he made superman into god, a character so powerful that he is impossible to defeat and has practically zero weakness. (Except Martha) Which made it impossible for the creators to make a new superman movie bcuz they went all in with man of steel. James Gunn understood this project, he made sure his superman stays grounded, has morals, bleeds, smiles, gives hopes and has some weakness which makes this superman more relatable, and he just cannot punch his way through everything. Zack made superman a god James made superman a human
