I stumbled upon this post last night, and it just had me thinking. @stacy_muur put together a full breakdown on where to actually park your stablecoins right now, and it hit different because it wasn’t just “here are some protocols, good luck.” It actually explained the why behind each option. I’d like to walk you through it, plus drop my own thoughts on it too. Because here’s what most of us are doing. We hold USDC, we hold USDT, and it just sits there, doing nothing. Or worse, we see some protocol promising 200% APY, we ape in, and six months later that thing is gone and so is our money. We’ve all seen it happen, some of us have lived it. And the data is actually brutal on this. Out of 1.37 million wallets on Pumpfun in March this year, only 4% made more than $500. 4%‼️ So if you’ve been feeling like you keep missing, it’s not just you, the math was never in anyone’s favor to begin with. But here’s what’s interesting. While you and I was doing all that, chasing, losing, chasing again. institutions were quietly going the complete opposite direction. Tokenized treasury markets just crossed $15 billion. BlackRock is onchain. Revolut is distributing yield bearing stablecoins to 50 million users passively. These people aren’t doing memecoins. They’re doing boring. And boring is working. So i broke this down into four tiers. Let me just run you through them. ➜ First is ultra low risk: This is @coinbase @binance, @krakenfx you’re earning somewhere between 3 and 5.68% just by holding stables on the platform. honestly this is a totally valid place to start. My take? Keep a portion here as your liquid buffer money you might need to move fast. ➜ Second is low risk: and this is actually where I think most people should have the bulk of their stables. This tier is built on tokenized US Treasury bills. So sBUIDL, which is literally @BlackRock’s fund wrapped onchain. USDY from @OndoFinance for those of us outside the US. My friend @0xGraciee & @thechulprecious talks about this alot, check them out. USYC from @circle, You’re getting 3 to 4% APY backed by short term government debt. This is as close to “set it and forget it” as DeFi gets right now. In this article, @stacy_muur recommends 60% here and honestly I think that’s the right call. ➜ Third is medium risk: 4 to 7% APY. This is where you start adding protocol risk on top of everything else. Smart contracts, governance, lending mechanics. Maple’s syrupUSDC, Sky’s sUSDS, Aave’s sGHO, Ethena’s sUSDe. These are real protocols with real track records, but you need to actually understand what you’re putting money into before you do it. ➜ fourth is higher risk: 8 to 15% APY. Smaller teams, newer setups, less time in the wild. Things like Midas RWA’s mF-ONE or InfiniFi’s siUSD. The yields are real, but this is not where you park most of your stables. Here’s my personal take though: The boring strategy actually won this cycle. Nobody talks about it because there’s no screenshot moment with a 3.5% yield. But the people who built a proper allocation of stables actually working, low risk as the foundation, small exposure to higher tiers they didn’t blow up. They just quietly compounded while everything else was blowing up around them. And the infrastructure is actually there now in a way it wasn’t before. I heard five years ago, “safe yield” in crypto was 0.05% on @coinbase and that was it. Today you have @BlackRock backed products accessible onchain, no institutional minimums, available to retail. That’s a real shift. So if your stables are just sitting right now, and honestly a lot of people’s are. the move isn’t to go find the highest number you can and pray. The move is to build a proper allocation across these tiers. ⇢ Heavy on low risk. ⇢ A little in medium if you understand the protocol. ⇢ A small bet in higher risk if you want some upside. ⇢ And keep some liquid for when opportunities come.
