Open educational materials can often go a long way. I benefitted from countless such materials myself (e.g., those from @GilStrangMIT, Steve Boyd & @AndrewYNg). Now it's time to contribute back. Here we go -- 52 videos from three grad-level courses I taught at UCSB. I spent a lot of time on these lectures, but these materials are not all original. Many lectures drew inspiration from existing courses elsewhere. Some used slides from existing courses directly (under the approval of the original creators). These are acknowledged in each course. 2. These videos were recorded due to the covid-era remote teaching. In hindsight, I should’ve released these videos publicly much earlier. I was hesitant back then because (1) I was inexperienced; (2) they may discourage in-person lecture attendance in subsequent years. Neither matters anymore. 4. Over the years, I have met people at conferences from all over the world telling me how they benefitted from my annotated slides from the courses above. It's heart-warming each time I learn such a story. Well, now people have videos to refer to if my handwriting is not legible. 4. There are still many research-worthy ideas in these technical lectures. If people learn about them and pursue those ideas, it’s real scientific advancement! 5.
