@sifth1 @AriochIV @fandompulse to add further context: duncan is a poor hedge knight, whose moral choices and code of honor help him throughout the novellas, until he becomes the legendary kingsguard. that story alone contradicts your theory. i'll wait your counterargument

@raphael_baeyens @AriochIV @fandompulse I'll make it simple, a hero defeating a villain and it not coming back to bite them in the ass, 500 pages later. In the few times when George gives a hero a win, it usually ends up being a bad thing down the line.

George R.R. Martin explains how his Game of Thrones characters wielding power badly is his answer to Tolkien: "Ruling is hard. This was maybe my answer to Tolkien, whom, as much as I admire him, I do quibble with. Lord of the Rings had a very medieval philosophy: that if the king was a good man, the land would prosper. We look at real history and it’s not that simple. Tolkien can say that Aragorn became king and reigned for a hundred years, and he was wise and good. But Tolkien doesn’t ask the question: What was Aragorn’s tax policy? Did he maintain a standing army? What did he do in times of flood and famine? And what about all these orcs? By the end of the war, Sauron is gone but all of the orcs aren’t gone – they’re in the mountains. Did Aragorn pursue a policy of systematic genocide and kill them? Even the little baby orcs, in their little orc cradles? Real-life kings had real-life problems to deal with. Just being a good guy was not the answer. You had to make hard, hard decisions. Sometimes what seemed to be a good decision turned around and bit you in the ass; it was the law of unintended consequences. I’ve tried to get at some of these in my books. My people who are trying to rule don’t have an easy time of it. Just having good intentions doesn’t make you a wise king." What do you think Tolkien would have thought about such comments?

@sifth1 @AriochIV @fandompulse so you really believe grrm is nihilistic and doesnt want good characters to succeed? have you read the tales of Duncan the Tall ? it's a story about a hedge knight becoming a kingsguard. it's a pretty classic feel good story. doesnt it contradict your theory about grrm ?

@raphael_baeyens @AriochIV @fandompulse For the final time. It's that good characters don't get wins. Also that bad characters only get defeats by other bad characters. George doesn't believe in morally good people coming out on top.

@sifth1 @AriochIV @fandompulse what is your point ? good characters always get punished ? i've shown you how bad characters also get punished. you said it didnt matter because they got killed by also bad people... so it would only be valid if they were killed by good characters ? your logic doesnt make sense

@raphael_baeyens @AriochIV @fandompulse Tyrion is a rapist; he’s a horrible person. A grey character possibly, but certainly not a good one. Oberyn dies and still fails to kill Gregor because he comes back stronger than ever. Joff is killed by Littlefinger. I think you missed my point and only proved me right.

@sifth1 @AriochIV @fandompulse tywin dies by the hands of tyrion, who is a morally good character. the mountain died because of oberyn's poison. joffrey was collectively hated by the entire realm because of his actions. i think you're missing the point here. it's not good vs evil, it's just human nature.

@raphael_baeyens @AriochIV @fandompulse Every character you mentioned dies by the hands or actions of another villain. The only exception being Gregor and even he manages to kill Oberyn so it’s very much not a case of good wining over evil. As I said before George does not like giving morally good people wins.

@sifth1 @AriochIV @fandompulse joffrey dies because of his wanton cruelty . tywin died as a result for the hatred towards his son. the mountain actually became a zombie after sessions of excruciating pain. the man who chopped off jaime's hand got tortured and died. it's not limited to good characters.

@raphael_baeyens @AriochIV @fandompulse Rather funny how most of the bad guys almost never make these so called bad choices. In fact more often than not Gorge’s villains are killed by other villains. The man is so nihilistic he refuses to give his hero’s major wins, unless it bites them in ass down the line.

@biglizardswife it's because these folks are deluded. they are possessed with a hatred for anything trump does, as they've been brainwashed to do. there is no logic in their reasoning, it's entirely reactive.

@sifth1 @AriochIV @fandompulse if anything, it's more about cause and effect. choices and consequences. good characters often die because they dont understand/care about political reality (ned stark for example), yet others who are more well informed (and good) survive and navigate through it, like tyrion.

@raphael_baeyens @AriochIV @fandompulse Yet he has a track record for punishing the good characters and rewarding the horrible ones. He apparently views good as being dumb, at least in the first 5 books.

@raphael_baeyens @MemoryMedieval No, conquering land isn't the same as moving. The Franks formed a thin upper class in todays France, but remained as the general population in Austrasien.

@R4nskMSvUa9DnCF @MemoryMedieval while i agree with you partly, i wouldn't say most of them became part of the German and Dutch peoples. The Franks historically moved westward, to establish the frankish kingdoms that would eventually become France. I think it would be more accurate to say most of them moved west

@Kyerewaah5 @scenesthatslap that's precisely the joke. he's good on his first try because he's black, using the stereotype that all blacks have a proclivity for basketball

@deviceotaku i think this is a circular question. If we enquire about who made the universe, then it follows to also ask: "who made the creator ?". What we understand as being "real" or "existing" is confined within our universe, therefore we cannot conceive what is outside of it.

@_A_khalifa i dont think ive seen before an actual muslim pointing out the bad things that other muslims do in western countries. it's a welcome sight, and it takes courage. i somehow feel like this might be linked to iran's fall. in any case, thank you for this brave message.

A real Muslim .. doesn’t attack people. He doesn’t exploit his religion for political or worldly gains or steal donations! A real Muslim doesn’t go to other countries & insult their beliefs or way of life ! He doesn’t break the law, he respects everyone, regardless of race or faith. That’s why.. we, the original Arab Muslims never migrated. We stayed in our land even when it was only a desert! Any Muslim living in the West must respect its laws & the values of its original people or go back to their own countries!!

@raphael_baeyens @FightWithMemes You know what, I'll just concede to the fact that I can't prove if they are or aren't faking it. To me it looks like a real reaction that I've seen before, but I can't prove it. So there you go. Thank you for remaining civil, sorry for the harsh language.

@spasmonkey @FightWithMemes no, it's because it's a clear pattern, with many other similar videos. i mean, the acting isnt that great... they move robotically, they even take their shirts off at the same time like they're following a script. just dont trust everything you see on the net. simple as.

@raphael_baeyens @FightWithMemes Bitch as if you haven't seen black people chimping out over people wearing 'All lives matter' shirts or signs, making this reaction totally believable. Pretending that because that guy has fake videos that this is undeniably fake too is just obtuse and ignorant...

@spasmonkey @FightWithMemes By deductive reasoning, i mean: If it has been proven that joeysalads has consistently staged his videos, and even admitted to it himself, then it follows that this video is part of those staged videos. the pattern is clear Its really not that hard. you're just in denial
