It’s because people can’t be illegal. And because for many people it conflates civil and criminal offenses. Are people who enter legally and overstay their visa “illegal immigrants”? Probably not by any reasonable definition. Yet maybe you mean to include them in the scope of the discussion? Well, the term are deriding, “undocumented immigrant”, covers that case too. It’s just a more accurate and more useful term. What is an illegal person? Maybe one day if people see the result of criminal genetic engineering 🤣

Because I am raising concerns about the flood of unvetted illegal immigrants overwhelming American cities, the press will often characterize me as “anti-immigrant”. As an immigrant myself, nothing could be further from the truth. I am very much in favor of increased and expedited legal immigration for anyone who is talented, hard-working and honest. It is bizarrely difficult and agonizingly slow to immigrate to the USA legally, but trivial and fast to enter illegally! This obviously makes no sense.
