@MostlyMonkey @PxlHulk Shouldnt we take some offense at the idea that they thought they might possibly resist if we tried?

This is a good idea. There can be cases where guilt is so obvious that the death penalty is available with minimal recourse or appeals. Like when you find 30 bodies in the crawl space of John Gacy’s house - trial and execution in 3 months.

@FischerKing64 I’ve always maintained there should be a 3 tier legal system. Not guilty, guilty, and so fucking guilty that appeals are unreasonable. A lot of death penalty cases probably fall in that third bucket.

@KurtSchlichter @townhallcom Trump should give Van Dyke an interview and play him up in the horse race so that the Overton window shifts right and the Senate is prepared to confirm Andrew Oldham.

San Francisco spends almost $20,000 a year per resident. Take out 1k per resident for the police. How many people would rather have an extra 19k in their pockets than the "services" thus provided?
Overeducated Gibbon@MostlyMonkey

@AlexGodofsky @charlescwcooke It's hard to look at any major blue city's public services and think they're a good deal for the money.

@KurtSchlichter 100%. The only wars we have managed to make completely sanitary are wars we lost. We cannot have warfighters second guessing their every decision. A few mistakes in thousands of strikes is the price of any undertaking like this.

@Biohazard3737 Hard to come up with explanation other than malice for the choice to complain about *this* government spending, alone among the trillions in available candidates for complaint

@GabeGuidarini @JoelWBerry Thats all fine and good, but itd be better if CRA/Kai admitted that "yeah I said some dumb shit, sorry" instead of pretending it didnt happen. Its not cancel culture to own it and move on. But failing to own it makes Joel seem correct in the eyes of normies sitting in between.

@JoelWBerry First time a College Republican org ever made an endorsement in a competitive presidential primary was when CRA endorsed Trump in January 2024 then promptly put boots on the ground in IA, NH, and SC to help him get nominated all while the Bee folks were still pumping DeSantis.

@Biohazard3737 You may overestimate the amount of marketwide thinking getting done. The initiation usually means someone put some effort in (as opposed to coasting on priors established at their last big report written years previously)

@L0m3z @KeithWoodsYT The public needs to reset its view that "victory requires regime change" to something more realpolitik. For most of Western history it was OK to beat up on your enemy and then go home without first installing a viceroyalty.

What this demonstrated is that there are off ramps that can calm markets down. Calm markets buys time and reduces Iran’s leverage. If the US just goes home now, the outcome will remain politically ambiguous and probably not damage him domestically. That appears to be the current most likely outcome. Could it spiral out of control still? Sure. Are we already stuck in the inescapable doom spiral many were predicting less than 24 hours ago? It doesn’t appear that way.

Half of this app was predicting imminent financial/energy market collapse and the end of Trump less than 24 hours ago. This is certainly not “victory” but it ought to be said that hysterical doomerism has once again proven itself to be… “kind of dumb.” x.com/elliothackerxy…

@L0m3z Lol. The system is way more elastic than this. WTI at $200? Economy will keep grinding. Will equities fall in that world? Probably. But remember, the left put half of America out of work months and production of goods marched on.

@MostlyMonkey Disagree. The West has sold its citizens the lie that only bad guys die in our sanitary wars. Better long run if people come to understand that their choices will usually be: no war at all, losing the war, or apocalyptic violence.

If we win big here and regime change, I want to pay blood money to the families impacted. Nothing will ever make it up, but we owe that.

Operations in the Iran war have mostly gone much more favorably than I would have guessed, with 2 major caveats: >Chinese radars are garbage, and our invisible planes are invisible >Targeting has gotten way better, and we seem to be tracking thousands of targets [...]

There are still limits to what air power can accomplish, of course. But those aren't going to be dictated by our lack of precision bombing
