Abu Ghraib Shocked the World. Brutalization of Palestinians Barely Inspires a Shrug 🔗bit.ly/3SoEaqa So many parallels to the US' war on terror: accusations of torture, dehumanization of captives, flouting of international law, brutality of occupation. Yet, no one of note was held accountable. Remember the outrage over images from Abu Ghraib? For Palestinians? Silence has been deafening. #Gaza #Palestine #WarCrimes

SNL: “There is growing confusion over whether Israel being allowed to continue bombing Lebanon was part of the ceasefire with Iran. Ultimately that decision comes down to the man controlling our military: Benjamin Netanyahu.”

The U.S. was so anxious to defray the economic impact of the war that it actually unsanctioned not just Russian but Iranian oil to help stabilize global markets. Now its apparently going to impose a blockade on that same oil which will accelerate the crisis and may even trigger an even more devastating Red Sea blockade. This won't even affect Iran in the short-term since they still have large numbers of tankers already offshore that can sell oil for the next 40 days but it is going to extend the blockade on all the other Persian Gulf states while annihilating every other country on earth that relied on maritime energy shipping from the region. The whole U.S.-led international order based on protecting maritime transit is going to be a smoking crater at the end of the massively unforced error that was this war, and for what purpose exactly?

Lebanon is being destroyed. 1.1 million people, including 390,000 children, forced out of their homes by relentless bombardment. Towns and villages flattened. Infrastructures destroyed. Innocent civilians killed. There is no justification for this.

God does not bless any conflict. Anyone who is a disciple of Christ, the Prince of Peace, is never on the side of those who once wielded the sword and today drop bombs. Military action will not create space for freedom or times of #Peace, which comes only from the patient promotion of coexistence and dialogue among peoples.

Mayor Zohran Mamdani announces that 2K, free preschool for 2 year olds, will be full day and full year - from 8am to 6pm, 260 days a year. 3K and prek typically end at 2:30 and are closed over the summer - a major difference for working parents.

Former Congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Greene🇺🇸
Ro, I agree with you that we need a strong populist coalition of the right and left that can come together on the most important issues for the future generations of Americans. This is no easy task given years of deep political divisions between the right and the left on issues both sides are passionate about. For the sake of my children’s generation, I’m willing to come together, go to the whiteboard, and begin to try to sketch something new. We both know the powerful political industrial complex of the Democrat and Republican parties will do anything to stop a right/left true America First coalition supported by ordinary Americans and not big money special interests and foreign agents and their donors. This is likely the only way to break free of the corrupt system from both sides that controls everything, constantly goes to war, and only enriches themselves while average Americans continue to lose. It’s definitely worth starting the conversation.
Ro Khanna@RoKhanna

Trump backed down. No credit to Congress, which barely made a whimper. Credit to the American people—progressive activists & anti-war conservative voices like @TuckerCarlson, @mtgreenee, and many more. We need an anti-Epstein class, anti-war, pro-working class coalition.

Yesterday the VP said Iran would be stupid to blow up the ceasefire over Lebanon Well what does it say about the US that we're willing to blow up the global economy over Israel's desire to ethnically cleanse and annex half of Lebanon?

We're in the middle of our most dangerous war in at least two decades -- fueled by her precious Israel -- and CNN's Dana Ruth Schwartz Bash is still prattling on about Hasan Piker and his supposed insensitivity towards Israel and the suffering of her people. Ironically, one of the things that has annoyed me about Hasan is how constantly he goes out of his way to condemn anti-Semitism and talk about its evils even when it's not relevant to his point (and even when its existence is dubious). I get why he does it, but this insanely stupid two-week lynch mob proves that if you're an influential critic of Israel, you'll be widely branded an anti-Semite no matter how much you not only avoid anti-Semitism but aggressively denounce it, as he does.
Bobby LaValley@Bobby_LaVallley

CNN's @DanaBashCNN: "Hasan Piker is excusing sexual violence by Hamas terrorists. He also claims Hamas is, quote, 'a thousand times better than Israel.' Hamas is a designated terror organization, not just by the U.S., but by the EU, Canada, Australia, New Zealand."

Pakistan is the key broker between the US and Iran. At 7:50pm ET on Tuesday, Pakistani PM Shehbaz Sharif posted on X that the ceasefire applies "everywhere including Lebanon." No one in the White House contradicted him. Since then, Israel has launched a wave of murderous attacks on Lebanon, killing hundreds of people, breaking the terms laid out by Pakistan. And now the White House insists that "Lebanon is not part of the ceasefire." Israel First.

‘Lebanon is not part of the ceasefire… that has been relayed to all parties’. Asked whether Donald Trump wants a ceasefire in Lebanon, Karoline Leavitt repeats that the country is not included in yesterday's agreement. 🔗 trib.al/nIfKXNn
