@gzcl3000 The book C++ primer is what worked for me so you might give it a shot, it's heavy but still readable and incredibly precise. You can try A tour of C++ which is shorter.

any great place to live got that way because a few people understood something and held the line everyone else enjoys the benefits but eventually destroys them because they don't understand so i'm sympathetic to the anti-datacenter people left unchecked the world turns itself into a place you don't want to be

this extends to most things that are great, they're good because multiple people criticized & shaped it for the benefit of all. technological determinism is bs, all great things are shaped by humans fighting loudly for their views, resulting in 'great' middle ground

Xbox needs to move faster, deepen our connection with the community, and address friction for both players and developers. Today, we promoted leaders who helped build Xbox, while also bringing in new voices to help push us forward. This balance is important as we get the business back on track. As part of this shift, you’ll see us begin to retire features that don’t align with where we’re headed. We will begin winding down Copilot on mobile and will stop development of Copilot on console.

What inspired me most to learn programming was the idea of updating comments on JIRA tasks, I grew up dreaming about it while I prompt a clanker to convert 100s of garbage data files into an actionable ppt for business. Teams notification is melody to my ears, my way to salvation

@skepticalsports Hey that's a cool observation, i figured this playing secret santa last xmas. someone suggested we (n trials) draw names until nobody gets their own name (1/n probability altho wo replacement) & I calculated there's 1-1/e chance someone gets their own, so expected redraws ~= e

That chances of a 1/n event happening in n tries converges quickly on 63% (1-1/e to be exact) has been one of my favorite useful real world math shortcuts since high school.

incredibly naive understanding of world to think we'll have UBI or people want UBI. We've enough resources to feed everyone, but 30% live in food insecurity. people'll never trust gov or billionaires to redistribute power & wealth they've died hoarding, it's a lie to curb dissent
keysmashbandit@keysmashbandit

Actually this is correct and I'd go further. Beyond PR, the moral move is for big labs to start heavily investing in UBI lobbyists, thinktanks, whatever, to mitigate the risk of economic upheaval. A better world is possible!
