Adopting crypto's technology is unreasonable, but all progress depends on the unreasonable man. There's nothing groundbreaking in history that ever looked reasonable while in development, and commercial viability has always taken decades of thankless work. It's a miracle that this industry can take advantage of monkey pictures and coins about farts to plow through those decades of hardship.

@theo @atmoio what does "work seamlessly" and "doing majority of their work" mean here? everyone has been using compilers and keyboards for all their work, and that didn't mean mass-replacement and 50% unemployment kids are afraid for their future, stop throwing logs in the fire for clicks

I don’t think AGI is well defined. I would argue that current models with sufficient tools/harnesses would get close to most people’s definitions. The Codex/GPT-5.5 experience I have today would have met my definition in 2024. These tools quickly went from “oh that’s a nice autocomplete suggestion” to working seamlessly in massive code bases. Almost every F500 Eng I know is now doing the majority of their work with AI. Everything shifted really fast. I don’t really care about definitions. I just care about how people work, and that changed much quicker than I expected.

thing with LLMs over google search is that LLMs make a better job than you at gluing ambiguity between your question and a potential path to a solution you couldn't yolo a wide search by just attaching a corpus of code, you had to painstakingly find your way one crumb at a time

Agents don't need types. They're perfectly capable of pulling off incredible refactorings without. Give them a linter and a test suite, and you have all you need. Token efficiency is where it's at.

I like types. Types align with my brain waves; they help me create better code. TS/Rust are my tools of choice. When using agents, though, that doesn’t matter as much. I asked OpenCode to build me a simple CRM recently using Ruby on Rails. It came back INSANELY GOOD. One prompt, 15 minutes, database migrations, form validations, authentication, a nice backend structure - the works! Ruby and Rails have been around forever. That makes a huge difference for agents. The older and more proven the tech, the better the result you get from the agent. That is also why Linux has suddenly become such a joy to use.

only tickers, their age, and a one liner sales-pitch exist; ignore all else maybe SOL is in fact the next ETH SOL, like ETH, has this overhang of not being new, unlike tickers with re(new)ed marketing the more time has passed since the last sales pivot the better, because people have forgotten how old the ticker is, influencial participants had the chance to bundle the coin, and now the sales-pitch is a lot more effective but the fact is, all these chains do the exact same thing: a decentralized transition from block to block+1 there's no such thing as renewing marketing the only thing you can do is *fulfill* the world computer vision and get too big to fail all else is a blissful fad and when it comes to fulfilling that vision, SOL is very unlike ETH
