"Shivat tzion" (Return to Zion) is a persistent, repetitive theme in the scriptures. The Jewish people were exiled by the Romans beginning in 70 CE but there was always the promise of shivat tzion. There are literally volumes of scriptures in the Bible directly pertaining to the Jews returning to Israel to rebuild the cities and the waste places of old. This is exactly what has happened in our time. One of the earliest verses was written down by Moses, e.g. Deut. 30:3-5: "Then the Lord your God will bring you back from exile and have compassion on you, and He will return and gather you from all the peoples where the Lord your God has scattered you. Even if your outcasts are at the ends of the heavens, from there the Lord your God will gather you, and from there He will bring you. The Lord your God will bring you into the land that your fathers possessed, and you will possess it; and He will do you good and multiply you more than your fathers. Simply put, the modern Jewish State is a work of God. Therefore anyone standing against it is standing against God. But, whoever blesses Israel will be blessed.
