Hyatt Beijing is serving Filipino buffet on weekends until end of May. We don't have a lot of Filipino food options in Beijing (aside from the embassy kitchen and a small restaurant run by a cheerful Chinese lady and her parents), so this initiative is a good start 👍

@bikoy It's supposed to be read backwards, 民國全圖 - Entire Map of the Republic of China. Hehe

Finally bought the pricey framed reproduction of a 1924 Republican China-era map of Beijing I've been eyeing from a popular hutong shop, to add some character to my bare apartment. It features a map inset labeled 圖全國民 or something like "Complete/Full Map of the Nation" 🙂

Huwag n'yo akong hinahanapan ng tikoy 😅 I realize it's probably more a southern Chinese/Hokkien CNY tradition (where most Fil-Chi roots trace back). I can't find tikoy on store shelves around here.

Macanese food this time. Found a Macao cuisine restaurant in the neighborhood ! Loved the pork chop bun of umami pork and cheese in between sweet bread.

One of the impressive things living/working here is the ease of taking the metro. The only minor inconvenience I think is stations are relatively far apart. The map looks packed with 430+ stations but it actually represents the size of Metro Manila + Bulacan + Cavite and more.

It is not likely to snow again in Beijing for the next weeks despite -10C weather so I took the opportunity to take this photo on a freezy Sat morning. Hundreds other people had same idea of heading up Jingshan Park for this shot of the Forbidden City.

The irony in mastering how to say "我不会说中文, 我不明白你说什么" ("I can't speak Chinese. I don't understand what you're saying") perfectly with all the correct tones is that nobody believes it.

Finally mustered the confidence to try out one of my neighborhood eateries where everything is in Chinese, no photos to point out. I have to rely to what little Mandarin I can express. Camera translation is no help coz what does "three immortals in clear soup" even mean ?? This.

Staying in QC for a few days and my goodness… ₱200 gets you 2 cups of rice na may dalawang half-serving na ulam (na mukhang 1 serving size na sa Makati). Tapos masarap pa!!! Baka may mas mura pa, pero other CBD areas can’t relate!!!
