Keldon Johnson escreveu uma longa carta para os fãs do Spurs no @PlayersTribune , aqui vai um breve resumo: Alguns anos atrás, tive uma conversa difícil com o Pop. Antes de um jogo contra Dallas, ele disse que seria melhor eu sair do banco. Eu aceitei na hora, mas por dentro não lidei bem. Eu tinha média de 22 pontos, medalha de ouro… não entendia. Deixei o barulho externo me afetar e não fui minha melhor versão naquela fase. Com o tempo, comecei a refletir. Voltei até o draft de 2019, quando caí até a 29ª escolha sem nem treinar com San Antonio. Ali, a franquia apostou em mim, e veteranos como Dejounte Murray, DeMar DeRozan, LaMarcus Aldridge e Patty Mills me ensinaram como ser profissional. Eles viam algo em mim antes mesmo de eu enxergar. Em 2024, olhando pro nosso momento, percebi o quadro maior. O time tinha futuro, sinais claros de crescimento… mas havia um problema: eu. Tive que encarar isso de frente. Deixar o ego de lado não é fácil, mas era necessário. Escolhi confiar no processo. Abracei meu papel, fiz o que o time precisava e voltei a ser eu mesmo. Hoje, me sinto em casa em San Antonio. Venho de uma cidade minúscula, com valores simples de família, e isso molda quem eu sou. Nosso time cresceu assim também. Sem atalhos, aprendendo com os erros e criando uma identidade própria. Um grupo unido, intenso, onde todo mundo pode ser quem é, e isso faz tudo funcionar. Estar aqui tem sido uma jornada, uma da qual eu tenho muito orgulho. Quando você tira o ego da equação e realmente compra algo maior que você, você pode fazer parte de algo especial. E quando um time inteiro faz isso, você nem sabe até onde pode chegar. No fim, o mais importante pra mim é que a organização nunca deixou de acreditar em mim. Isso me deu confiança pra continuar. Porque evolução é uma jornada própria. Leva tempo. E eu só continuei, continuei, continuei. Você vai cair, vai passar por momentos difíceis… mas precisa ter coragem pra levantar. A gente tá no ringue agora. E a gente tá pronto. Spurs fans, some sad news today about one of the legendary ones in San Antonio's team history. Coach Doug Moe has passed away. He coached the Spurs from 1976 to 1980, taking over right as the franchise transitioned from the ABA into its first NBA season after the merger.
In four seasons, Moe led the Spurs to the playoffs three times and helped establish them as an immediate contender. His best run came in 1979, when San Antonio advanced to the Eastern Conference Finals before falling in a hard-fought seven-game series to the Washington Bullets.
May God rest his soul.
