Beyond the expected meltdown from the right-wing ecosystem over A.R. Rahman’s comments on Chhaava, the reaction from a fringe section of Ilaiyaraaja "loyalists" is revealing. By joining the dogpile to win a petty fan war, these handles are effectively acting as enablers for a much larger Hindutva narrative. While one can debate the consistency of ARR’s liberal stance, he is pointing toward a systemic reality faced by minorities. Ignoring that context just to satisfy a fan-boy ego isn't just shortsighted—it's toxic. They’ve completely lost the plot. 🤦♂️🫠

Incredibly hurt at this comment by musical genius A R Rehman. Reminds me of a TV IV, I did with him once when I kept begging him to sing or at least hum his divine “Ma Tuje Salaam” Vandataram & throughout the half an hour he steadfastly refused. I was upset because artists are never so obdurate particularly about their greatest hits

Rahman also said in the very same interview that Chatrapathi Sambhaji Maharaj is one of the most celebrated characters and the blood and pulse of every Maratha, and that he is honored to have scored for such a movie, but I think you missed that part.

He sings Vande Mataram at every single concert. He got Chris Martin to sing Vande Mataram. Even talks about it in that interview. Maybe he saw the bigot in you and didn’t feel the need to entertain you.

@greatbong I watched the full interview and didn’t think he was playing the victim card at all. He didn’t ever say that he’s not getting enough work. He was answering a very specific question about how the industry is changing. Felt that the usual suspects are taking things out of context.

The fact that A R Rahman would, after years of being India’s most well-paid music celebrity, play the victim card based on his religion is a sign of how progressive programming has Usman Khwaja mere Khwajaed the world. Everyone is a victim in this woke world, including one of India’s biggest global icons.
The reason why Rahman doesn’t get the business he likes is simple: the era of original music and the musician’s own brand driving a movie’s fortune is over, the entry level of producing hit music is way lower than in the 90s with software and now AI, and the fact that A R Rahman has priced himself out of this market.
That simple.

My heart goes out to this beautiful human being ♥️ I still remember my first meeting with #captain in the late 90's...we went to invite him for a college event... a sweet humble loving and caring person... Will also never forget this moment when he came to Kalaignar's final resting place...the way his body shook upon setting foot there showed his heart aching ... even with his own failing health he came and paid his last respects to the architect of modern TamilNadu... this showed the respect and love he had for the phenom #kalaignar♥️ Kalaignar too had a very special place in his heart for his beloved "Viji"♥️🙏🏾 #CaptainVijayakanth
