Someone should perhaps remind the MLA about the history behind this sacred “Ther” festival, especially when his own colleague speaks about the destruction of “Sanatana.” After the devastating invasion of Ulugh Khan on the Srirangam Temple, it was Gopanna Raya who played a crucial role in restoring the temple and bringing back Namperumal from Tirupati. The reconstruction and revival of the temple complex took twelve years to complete. Viruppanna Udaiyar, the son of Harihara II of the Vijayanagara Empire, played a pivotal role in the restoration of the Temple. He performed Tulabhara and donated 17,000 gold coins along with 52 villages to the temple. Inscriptions further reveal that several of his officials and patrons, including his maid, made generous endowments to the temple. In the newly restored temple, Viruppanna Udaiyar revived the grand Ratha Utsavam (Temple Car Festival) in 1383 CE, after a gap of nearly sixty years. That is the festival conducted today, in the month of Chithirai under the Revathi star and called in his name as “Viruppan Thirunal.” The festival stands as a testimony that Sanatanam can never be destroyed.

Unlike Sanatana Dharma, he never called for its annihilation. In fact, he once considered mass conversion to Islam for Dalits and praised certain aspects while campaigning for Pakistan. He didn't abuse Prophet or Quran the way he targeted Hindu Gods. My point remains: DMK/TVK are direct ideological offspring of Ambedkar-Periyar on eradicating Sanatana.

Shameful compromise by @BJP4India govt. These Murtis are not mere artifacts to be lent like museum pieces. They are consecrated deities meant for worship in their original temples. Prana Pratishtha gives them divine presence not for loan agreements. Thanks to efforts like @poetryinstone we recovered them after centuries of theft. Now this lending mockery weakens our temple rights and cultural laws. Full return & restoration to temples is the only acceptable path. No more compromises. JAI SRI RAM!

Disgraceful compromise by @mygovindia run by @BJP4India - "Lending" our Murtis which were stolen from our temples - instead of getting them back to the temples for worship. Our Murtis are meant for worship in the temples they were originally established through Pranapratishta. We owe many thanks to @poetryinstone Shri Vijaykumar for helping Govt of India to get back our Murtis from various places over the many years now. But this atrocious compromise by @BJP4India Govt makes a mockery of the established law and our Fundamental Cultural Rights.

Article 25(2)(b) cannot be used as a sword to destroy Article 26 rights of religious denominations. Sabarimala’s sampradaya has a specific tradition for the Naishtika Brahmachari form of Swami Ayyappa. This is an essential religious practice belonging to the deity and its devotees, and not a public temple for social experiments. Courts and reformers cannot rewrite agamas and customs. Let sampradayas manage their own affairs. Interference will open floodgates for all temples in Bharat.

Wow! Now your focus is on the gold in temples? Is Modi's solution to 'don't buy gold for a year' to loot Hindu temples? The Titan CFO also thought the same way the government does. This is outrageous. The government and its cronies have been looting Hindu temples for decades through HR&CE departments. Now they openly suggest using temple gold to cover up the mess caused by massive gold imports. First free Hindu temples from government control. Hand over administration to Hindus. Then talk about anything else. Temple wealth belongs to the deities and devotees not to be treated as government ATM or national reserve. This kind of thinking shows the real mindset. Protect temple assets at all costs. No to any diversion of Hindu temple gold.

@TVKVijayHQ TVK MLA named Mustafa says that they follow the ideologies of Periyar and Ambedkar and are committed to eradicating 'Sanathan' (Sanatana Dharma). The Madurai bench of the Madras High court ruled in Udayanidhi's case as 'clear attack on Hinduism' and officially labelled as hate speech. Justice S Srimathy explolicitly stated that the tamil word "ozhippu", eradication of Sanatana carries an interpretation akin to Genocide or culturicide. This high court as well termed it perverse, divise and contrary to consititutional principles. SC in March 2024 comprising of Justice Sanjiv Khanna and Dipankar Datta heavily admoniahed Stalin stating, "You have abused your rights. You are a minister, not a layman. You should have realised the consequences of what you said". Now, a whole ministry including opposition and ruling party is on the mission to 'Eradicate Sanatana Dharma'. In #NEETEXAMS, Hindu girls were reportedly asked to remove even basic items like hair clips and earrings in the name of strict checking, while hijab was permitted for Muslim girls. Such inconsistent enforcement raises serious questions about equality and fairness in the system. Rules in national exams must apply equally to everyone, without selective treatment or appeasement. And now, after the cancellation of NEET UG 2026 over paper leaks, students will once again be forced to go through the same humiliation, stress, and uncertainty. STORY | Hinduism way of life, not mandatory to go to temple to prove belief: SC Observing that Hinduism is a way of life, the Supreme Court on Wednesday said it is not necessary for a Hindu to mandatorily go to a temple or perform a ritual in order to remain a Hindu, and even lighting a lamp inside the house is enough to prove one's belief. The observation of a nine-judge constitution bench headed by Chief Justice Surya Kant came while hearing petitions related to discrimination against women at religious places, including the Sabarimala temple in Kerala, and on the ambit of religious freedom practised by multiple faiths, including Dawoodi Bohras. Justices B V Nagarathna, M M Sundresh, Ahsanuddin Amanullah, Aravind Kumar, Augustine George Masih, Prasanna B Varale, R Mahadevan and Joymalya Bagchi are also part of the nine-judge bench.
