@implausibleblog He is 100% correct and the sad demise of welsh rugby is a clear illustration of the consequences of years of under-funding of state education.

@TorstenBell Well done and thank you. Sport England exists in England largely to protect football pitches, because football is England’s national game. But sadly nothing exists to protect Wale’s national game. And too many politicians have been silent on the subject.

Great turnout tonight by OSC for Swansea Council monthly meeting where an Emergency Motion was overwhelmingly passed to continue the fight to keep Wales most successful region and men's professional rugby in Swansea.

@Kasparov63 @peterjukes This is the crucial point. Terrifying.

Trying to predict the outrages of autocrats is hopeless because their superpower is to generate constant shocks to dominate the environment. But what’s happening in Minnesota is method, not madness. Trump wants violence, to radicalize & divide, to create pretext for crackdowns.
Fred Wellman@FPWellman
They tried to cover it up immediately and the Minneapolis police chief refused. Witnesses have been taken to police headquarters and all available off duty police have been called to work. ICE cannot be trusted to tell the truth. Congress must act now. The Courts must stop the stupid foot dragging. Enough is enough.

@AmeliaERWood @ollieglass Irrelevant question. That is the home owners choice. Not the same as taking money from a tenant to provide a (safe) dwelling.
English

@KirstieMAllsopp What is the policy that has caused this in your view? I think the most likely explanation is the chilling effect of post Lehman banking regulations now kicking in as old mortgages roll off. The new rules limit risk so much it is resulting in a huge de-leveraging…
English

@RickyBobby1872 @meadwaj Because the remaining barrels, despite your valid points, are increasingly expensive to extract…
English

@meadwaj The infrastructure is there. The know how is there. The standards and regulations are there. Why wouldn't u do it?
English

@englandislost @JohnMur24035538 Why mix the two? Makes the analysis completely spurious.
English

@tomhfh Sure because private sector principles are universally applicable. How would you measure a good a&e doctor Tom?
English

@Noahpinion Um short term v long term perspective? US has huge geographic advantages….

Now think about the fact that despite all this, Canada has less than 75% of America's income, its economy has barely grown in 30 years, and now it's going to start killing its depressed kids to save money.
How bad do you have to be to lose to a bunch of retards like America.
sid 🌹🔆🇨🇦@lilbabygandhi
Your president is a pedophile, you’ve shredded your influence across the world, your democratic and judicial institutions are collapsing, and your economy is poised to blow up. Maybe stop being so glib about Canada you retard

Yes. But social mobility was meant to unleash more talent, not less.
MrK@HelloMrKennedy
@afneil They are literally running the country. Whether you agree with how they are doing it or not. I'd say that was social mobility.
English

@afneil Because obviously only the privileged are talented right Andrew?
English

@afneil Ah yes that old classic. The relative comparison! Allowing you to become an apologist for fascism. How elegant.

It sends a shiver down the spine but I’m not sure Farage and Le Pen would do a worse job than these two losers mol.im/a/14897691

@justinroias I don’t understand why the world indulges them by calling the Israeli Army the Israeli DEFENSE force. It is an army. And does more attacking than any other army, and more than is allowed under international law.
English

I've never seen a country bomb as many others in just 3 years as Israel has—Gaza, Syria, Lebanon, Iran. Any other nation would be called a threat to global stability. But Israel gets weapons, cover, and a blank check. How long can this go on?
Ken Klippenstein@kenklippenstein
🚨 Israel just struck Iran
English

@SaulStaniforth I don’t understand what is wrong with buying the debt for 10p in the £. These were bad investments. Investments are risky. These were bad ones.
English

@WillHayCardiff Is this the fault of the party in power in the Senedd or of the way devolution works? Ultimately the treasury is in Westminster. So in situations like this the Senedd has limited real power to intervene. It was Westminster that chose to ignore Port Talbot.
English

@TheChiefNerd @chamath So many MAGA donors demonstrating how weak the correlation is between wealth and intelligence…
English

.@chamath: “I was a megadonor to the Democrats … I couldn't get a phone call returned from the White House to save my life … The Trump administration is totally different. There's not a single person there you can't get on the phone and talk to.”
English

@afneil Presumably the new ones are identical to the old ones? Or do we not believe in progress? I won’t for a moment imagine you understand a cost curve but perhaps progress might be a concept you can fathom?

Aide memoire to Mr E Miliband:
Germany’s first ever offshore wind farm, Alpha Ventus, is be dismantled after being in operation for only 15 years. Too unprofitable to operate now it can no longer pocket massive subsidies of 15.4 cents per KWh, which have run out. Forced from now on to exist on basic tariff of 3.9 cents per KWh, it will close down.
Now remind me about renewables being so much cheaper …
