I picked up a bunch of new connections this weekend on twitter/X. Folks seem to really resonate with a thread I wrote on my 550 acre off-grid hideaway on the Shenandoah river. I will introduce myself for those of you that don’t know my background. I am a 50 year old father of three married to the most amazing woman on the planet @lailarossi. We try hard to raise kind, happy, and responsible kids. I post frequently about fatherhood and family life. We love to travel as a family! We also spend a lot of time in the outdoors. I have a big belief in self-reliance, and we do things like camping, foraging, beekeeping, farming, timbering, and building together to learn and to have fun. I am also a business junkie. I founded a software company when I was 26 years old, and sold it to a public traded defense contractor when I was 39. I have went on to found or purchase companies in manufacturing and e-commerce through my family office, and I am always looking for great companies to acquire and operate. I have also developed commercial real estate in industrial and assisted living. I have invested and supported numerous startups across cyber, tech, saas, and consumer products. I love discussing entrepreneurship, business, startups, and SMBs. I am a structural engineer but became seduced by software for decades. I then made a hard shift and have tried to educate myself on the making of “real” products, including material science and mechanical and electrical engineering. I love to learn. In addition to the private investing that I do, I am also an investor in public equities. I frequently discuss macroeconomics, trends, and stocks that I am interested in. I am very focused on health and nutrition. I believe in growing my own food in my orchard and geothermal greenhouse, and sourcing whole food from local farmers. I frequently discuss diet and nutrition, because health is wealth, and health is freedom. I am purposely trying not to post much about politics these days. I am believer in small government, low regulation, low taxes, and a dynamic free market capitalist economy. I believe in personal responsibility and accountability. I believe that the world belongs to the young, and that we have a responsibility to make the world a better place than we left it. I try to follow back real non-bot people that want to have a conversation on X.
