Emotion baiting, in a nutshell, is instilling new hope into the lives of people
Who have failed countless times at satisfying a desire
This has been due to a variety of reasons:
1. Personal beliefs = “I am not creative, so I am bad at creating ads”
2. Personal preferences = “I hate sending out cold dm’s to land clients”
3. Products just plain sucking = The product is a full letdown
To give someone new hope, we do it by:
Calling out a desire they’ve tried to satisfy “find more winning ads”
Introduce something they’ve never heard of before “emotion baiting”
The new name they had never heard of before gives them a sense of
“I never tried that before, could this be it, could this be the thing that allows me to achieve this desire”
This new unique name, is something you give your product or service.
It’s something you create yourself.
I’ll typically see people take a common product or service and just give it a new name
OR there will be a totally new product or service that comes out with a new name + new technology
Once you got your unique name, your next goal is to build undeniable proof your product or service satisfies that desire to the highest ability
We do this by reinforcing desire throughout the ad
Looking at the above ad I created, I used the following methods, see if you can spot them ;)
1. Show experts & customers commenting on the desire being satisfied with the product
2. Help people feel, smell, and taste their desire being satisfied
3. Dramatize how hard it is to satisfy their desire unless they use your product
4. Problems they'll face due to their desire to be satisfied
5. Remove personal beliefs they have imposed on themselves to be able to satisfy that desire
6. Size of the desire being satisfied
Now that we have our customers
Believing there is something new out there
Believing they can get their desire satisfied again
We have their curiosity at PEAK
... and their mouth salivating
All we have to do from here is show them where they can find out more about it
Taking them to a product page OR landing page (depends on what more education they need to purchase)
