I sent Mum my PhD thesis; she re-wrote it as a Trump summary: “It's about bikes....... all about bikes..... oh, and people, people riding bikes. Riding bikes sitting and standing. It's very very good, you'll like it........ I like it, so.........” *widens arms and shrugs* 😂

I love learning new things & applying biomechanical principles to elite athletes. In that vein, I am incredibly grateful to join the Indiana Fever as the Head Athletic Performance Coach where I have the privilege of continuing to grow as a biomechanist, coach, & sport scientist.

@jjodx I think it would be valuable to add a supplementary section where you recreate the raw dataset from your estimated underlying distributions. Fun exercise/could be a good sanity check for yourself.

There is a popular idea: 'forget all other stats, just use t-tests' and I sympathize! BUT I'd like to alter it to 'just use mixed effects models!' so @rd_wilkinson @mel_mazzo and I wrote a paper with accompanying code to do just that journals.lww.com/acsm-essr/Abst…

@rd_wilkinson Haha then welcome to Google, and enjoy the ride! There's a really great deck on "what I wish I knew as a Noogler" on Moma.

Yesterday was my last day of working at Google. Perhaps this comes as surprise to you twitter folks, as I haven't widely announced that I left academia to try something new. Here's what I learned in 9 months as a Data Analyst who (temporarily) left Astronomy for Big Tech. 1/n

@VoltarCH Thanks for sharing Oliver! Just made the switch from postdoc to Google, so this was really insightful.

Thanks for bearing with me up to this point. If you want to further chat about any of this, or just in general about life, the universe, or pizza, drop me a DM. I am very much looking forward to working on galaxies again.

@elonmusk Interested as to why the replacement level needs to be 2.1 and not 2.0?

Excited to be joining @UTAustin as an Assistant Professor in Kinesiology & Health Education beginning January 2023! I wouldn't have made it this far without the support of many colleagues & mentors. I hope to pay it forward in the Lone Star State! #Hookem #SigningDay

@ChelseaParlett Well, in practice they are both, because people typically have no clue how to quantify a prior. Prediction: priors do not only differ wildly between people, but also differ wildly if you ask the same person to quantify them multiple times after they forgot what they did before.
