Watching the @WhatleyNC campaign manufacture a fake story about Cooper, get mad when no credible news organization will carry it (because it's fake), and then be reduced to pitching to a trashy tabloid in New York City as their vehicle for amplification is like a nutshell parable for the conservative movement right now.

The collapse of the "Cooper early release" nonsense was inevitable for a simple reason: it's fake. As in, provably false. Inventing fake stories about your opponent is not exactly new in politics, of course. But it's good to just be clear that's what the @WhatleyNC team did.

@DIPA84436523 Graduation rate is determined by seeing how much of the freshmen class get their diploma 4 years later. If large numbers drop out of school for whatever reason or are missing so many classes that they don't have a passing GPA, then the rate will fall.

He just understands the nature of college and embraced the basketball culture in the Triangle, the rivalries (beyond just Duke), and you could tell he’s a real competitor. In the days of NIL & the portal, when you don’t have as much connection between player/school/fanbase, it’s just nice to see that.

You hate to see this. He’s a player that is really good for college basketball in this era.
