@realdarin

I do not accept the status quo We can do better “A just society begins when everyone knows the rules, shares in the rewards, and trusts that the game is fair.

We're not having the same argument anymore. We're having different arguments in different languages about different realities. When one side calls something "justice" and the other calls it "tyranny," when "freedom" means opposite things depending on who's speaking, when we can't even agree on what counts as evidence, we've lost something fundamental. Not our values. Our ability to measure them. This is why I'm using the Moral Algorithm tool. Not because it's perfect. Not because it's "neutral" (nothing is). But because it names its framework and applies it evenly. Three questions. Every policy. Every speech. Every law: Would John Adams say this serves the common good, or just private power? Would you agree to this rule under Rawls' Veil of Ignorance, not knowing if you'd be the billionaire or the broke? Does this build the kind of society Aristotle would recognize as virtuous and flourishing? Here's what makes this urgent in 2025: Complexity has become the cover story for corruption. Bills are thousands of pages. Policies hide behind technical language. Spin doctors tell us issues are "too complicated" for citizens to understand. But ethics aren't complicated. "Is this fair?" is a simple question. "Who benefits and who's harmed?" is answerable. "Would I want this rule applied to me?" cuts through everything. The Moral Algorithm doesn't tell you what to think. It gives you a consistent lens to examine power. Drop in any speech from any politician. Any Supreme Court decision. Any executive order. See if it holds up when measured against 2,400 years of ethical philosophy instead of this week's news cycle. I'm tired of shadow-boxing. Tired of arguing past each other. Tired of "trust me" politics from every direction. So I'm using a tool that says: "Here's the code. Here's the standard. Let's reason together." One voice. One standard. Every issue. Because if we can't agree on how to measure justice, we're just fighting over who gets to define the words. Try it. Test your own side's policies against it. See if they hold up. That's the whole point—no one escapes the lens. themoralalgorithm.com/moral-algorith…

The International Brotherhood of Teamsters joins Teamsters Canada and the Teamsters Canada Rail Conference (TCRC) in calling on Canadian National Railway (CN) to immediately stop operating trains through active wildfire zones and put the safety of Teamsters Canada rail members first. A recent viral video on social media shows a CN freight train engulfed in flames while traveling through an active wildfire in Northern Ontario.  The train was operated by Teamsters Canada Rail Conference members, whose quick thinking and professionalism ensured that no one was injured. But those workers should never have been put in that position. CN should never be sending train crews into such dangerous conditions.

AOC: This is an inhaler pump. We’ve seen that AstraZeneca had this treatment where the actual medication inside did not change at all… But they filed a new patent to maintain exclusivity. Can you guess what the great innovation was that made it worth preventing this from going generic? It’s this little plastic piece right here. One of the big features of that new patent was this thing to keep the cap from coming off. That was a major part of the new patent they filed to extend exclusivity and prevent this life-saving drug from going generic, bringing down costs for ever

🇺🇸Pete Buttigieg says he wants to abolish the Electoral College and elect presidents by the national popular vote. Every American’s vote should carry the same weight, no matter what state they live in.

If the trajectories of AI development observed for several years now continue, it is highly plausible that AI will drastically transform our economies. We must be intentional and make collective, democratic choices, rather than letting market forces play out and risking leaving most citizens behind. wemustactnow.ai

Pete Buttigieg advocates for abolishing the Electoral College and supports electing the president by national popular vote, emphasizing that "everybody's vote" should carry equal weight. Should we abolish the Electoral College?

America has never been susceptible to communism. It has always been susceptible to fascism. Know your history. Know your context. Know smokescreens when you see them. The threat of communism has always been a smokescreen used by fascists in America.

For decades, US higher ed was largely free and treated as a public good that benefited society. The shift? In the 60s-80s, policy reframed education as a "private investment." States divested, loans exploded, and we traded the common good for a system of debt-financed human capital.

Workers Didn't Get the Weekend Because of Socialists. They Got It Because of Capitalism. Henry Ford gave his workers a 5-day week in 1926. Why? Rested workers were more productive. People with leisure time spent more money. Then, other companies followed. By 1938, when the government codified the 40-hour week, it was just catching up. Competition for labor and rising productivity did the work.

@Electrikhan_ @omgsidewalks This why we need to remind everyone that the USA was NOT made for "takers" it was made for "makers" ie people not corporations and or special interest groups or "fat profit" backroom deals by politicians

@realdarin @omgsidewalks The system is itself captured by the takers via regulation and mandates. The promise of work is worth more than the effort.

If capitalism truly rewarded intelligence and skill, the richest people would be scientists, engineers, and neurosurgeons. If it rewarded talent, artists, writers, and creators would be at the top. If it rewarded hard work, cleaners, laborers, and service workers would be wealthy. But they’re not. So what exactly does capitalism reward?

@DrcharlieWardQ To transition to a UBI and avoid oligarchy, we must shift the tax burden from a shrinking pool of human laborers to the infinitely scaling productivity of automated capital. Tax the machine's output.

@DrcharlieWardQ As AI replaces human labor, it destroys the payroll taxes funding our safety net exactly when we need them most. Scrapping the human FICA cap isn't enough. The solution? An uncapped Automation Displacement Fee.

BREAKING 🚨 Murray: Is it true that people making under $184,000 pay a 12.4% Social Security tax rate? Dahl: Yes Murray: And the rate for someone making $1,000,000? Dahl: 2.2% Murray: So, a 12.4% tax for people making less than $184,000, but 2.2% for a millionaire or .0002% for billionaires. FOLLOW ME, THE NEXT DROP WILL BE SHOCKING.

@DrcharlieWardQ When a company uses AI to do the work of 500 people, they should pay the 12.4% payroll tax on the human-wage equivalent of that output. They still save millions in actual payroll, but the public fund is kept whole.

Adam Smith (father of capitalism) would say public education, infrastructure, social insurance and safety nets support free markets Labeling every shared public service "socialism" hides the danger of corporations capturing government, monopolizing markets forcing costs to the public

What happen when an entire plan gets exposed at once vs each piece put in over years... Amendment 7 concentrates capital, Amendment 5 shifts economic burdens, Amendment 4 concentrates political control, and Amendment 3 reverses an exercise of popular sovereignty. They operate in different fields, but the direction is similar: power moves upward and away from direct, equal citizen control.
