@JZerucelli Ridiculous amount of cash for a project that will take at least 30 years to break even at a time when spending and debt is the root cause of our trashed economy. At least spend it on high value return projects like LNG or pipelines, not a generational sinkhole railway.

Pierre and the Conservatives are showing their true colours again. Pierre Poilievre says he’ll cancel the Alto high-speed rail project, that’s 51,000 good-paying jobs gone. That’s not a plan. That’s walking away from the people who build this country. These are nation building jobs, paycheques for ironworkers, operating engineers, pipefitters, electricians, and labourers. The skilled trades that keep our communities growing. Canada is ready to build. Under @MarkJCarney, we’re building big and building bold, using Canadian steel, aluminum, lumber, and Canadian workers. Real projects. Good union jobs.

My blood is not boiling. I’m asking why we’re spending $90 billion on a passenger vanity project while food banks are running short. Caring about priorities isn’t cruelty. It’s responsibility. If money is limited, helping struggling Canadians should come before projects that don’t move freight, don’t lower food costs, and don’t fix affordability.

@JeffreyLuscombe Apparently not wanting wasting $90 billion to start, on a passenger train with horrible value for investment while the economy is trash gets Liberals blood boiling. Adults concerned with govt waste and the economy don’t give a shit about a speeding train video you think is cool.

Liberal stupidity is quite high today over high speed rail the majority of them will never use if built.

@ItsSamG Oh they know and have laid out reasons why. You twats just ignore it like any other facts laid out for you. Carney lies to your face on TV and you soak it up as gospel even when it’s easily proven.

Most Conservatives don’t even know why they don’t like Mark Carney except that he plays for the team that Trudeau played for and therefore he sucks

@nailedvision @THudson59618056 @MarkReid42 Please don’t pretend like you put any thought into this $90 billion project. If you had, you’d recognize why it is a bad idea at this time. It’s laughable that everything you just said are exactly who you media spoon fed Liberals are.

@THudson59618056 @MarkReid42 Conservatives by and large are NPCs that just repeat whatever current thing is jammed into their heads by the media. Their basic heuristic is if liberal support it it's bad. No thought involved.

Lots of Liberal whiners out there this morning going off about CPC wanting to cancel the high-speed rail. Canada is fucking BROKE. The liberals drained the tank for generations. The same bunch wonder why everything is so fucking expensive and praise Carney for printing more money. Holy fuck!

@THudson59618056 @MarkReid42 18 years ago, started with one MP using existing rail lines from Toronto to Peterborough then morphed into multi city and province still using existing lines. Harper govt was not fully on board. Trudeau decided it will be a central piece of infrastructure. Wasteful & no value.

@MarkReid42 I think they have so much hate in them that their whining is just automatic with zero thought involved. Poilievre could save their lives, take a bullet for them and their first instinct would be to bitch and moan about it somehow.

@VeryBadLlama Only if too many Canadians remain wilfully blind and too stupid to realize why wasting $90 billion on a passenger only train is a waste of money with our economy in shambles.

@aidenwpkenny @NicD903 Sure 50% of the population resides in that corridor but the reality is maybe 33% of those will use it at least once. Regular users would be much fewer. Liberals love spending on wasteful wants over needs, which is a major reason our economy’s circling the drain.

@aidenwpkenny $90 billion generational sink hole will take at least 30 years to break even is not a brilliant investment. Guaranteed the cost balloons. Also comparing railways that started 190 years ago to grow our country to a high speed passenger only train is absolutely idiotic.

@gator_gum I agree with you on this. I find saying, if you mention one you best mention all, hypocritical . When it comes to accountability you never call out Carney or the Liberals, but non stop with Poilievre and Conservatives. You’re dead silent when Libs deserve accountability.

If you're tweeting today about Mark Carney "getting a raise" and fail to mention Pierre Poilievre's and every single CPC MPs raise as well you might be a bit disingenuous. They're all getting a raise. You're free to hate that idea, but saying "Carney gets a raise" like it's just him is deception. Poilievre, being a career politician, given his salary, benefits, and pension, which be one of the most expensive politicians in Canadian History. In fact, costing more than many Prime Ministers.

@Garnet_2203 2/2 It’s a waste of money that won’t break even for at least 30 years. You saying a Conservative started this almost 20 years ago in order to bitch about Poilievre’s stance is you just being a pathetic ignorant bitch. Your hate dictates everything and blinds you to reality.

@Garnet_2203 Del Mastro originally proposed a regular commuter train using existing tracks between Peterborough & Toronto. Later morphed into high-speed still using existing tracks. Trudeau pounced on it as a central piece of infrastructure, now Carney wants to continue the money pit. 1/2

So now Pierre Poilievre and his Conservatives want to cancel high-speed rail! Funny it was their guy, former MP Dean Del Mastro from Peterborough who pushed it in the first place Now Poilievre acts like it’s some reckless new idea And Michelle Ferreri ?‼️ who’s not even an MP anymore standing there like this is current leadership You don’t get to rewrite history just because it’s politically convenient Political amnesia is wild!

@LakeRhino You’re comparing critical infrastructure to what is a non essential economic money pit. It amazes me that the simplicity of this needs explaining in order to hopefully be comprehended.

@stevenmackinnon Poilievre has laid out a sound plan with many logical common sense ways to create jobs and grow the economy. You either ignored it all, never listened or just can’t comprehend it. This passenger only rail will be a generational economic sinkhole, not a worthwhile investment.

🚨🚨🚨Breaking: In a surprise turn, Prime Minister Mark Carney has declared the federal carbon tax Canada’s biggest economic mistake. Canada's new government will immediately scrap the remaining industrial carbon tax hikes scheduled for 2026–2030, cancel all related fuel regulations, and redirect the projected $1,100+ per person economic drag into paying down the national debt. All references to “pricing pollution” in official Liberal policy have also been cancelled. Carney: “It’s time for Canada to open our economy. The best way to do this is via free markets, lowering taxes and finally admitting we got this one wrong so we can move forward and Build Canada Strong."
