As a retired person my incomes are fixed while the government makes me withdraw money from my 401k at a given rate because of my age. The police building is still serviceable. Do better.

Police tax funds equipment exclusively, leaving little for facilities. Would you like to tour the police hq and see the conditions your police work? I’ll give you a personal tour.

@realzachwalker @CityOfIndepMO @cslcares Actually, the two tax questions afforded for both the fire department and police department to purchase equipment hire new personnel and build new facilities. If we're not using it for that, sounds like another overtime debacle or misuse of funds. Or will the new funds be misused

What I’d say is that while the voters approved an increase in the fire sales tax last year to address stations, the police tax covers equipment costs, not facilities. The marijuana tax would give the city much needed funding for these facilities.

@realzachwalker @CityOfIndepMO @cslcares Looking at what the city wants to use the 3%marijuana tax for ,I wonder if they will roll back some of the other taxes that cover the same things. ie the police and fire equipment.

As the slide below shows, @CityOfIndepMO ranks below the average of our peer cities in sales tax, use tax, and real estate tax. Additionally, we don’t assess a personal property tax.

@CityOfIndepMO @cslcares If independence didn't have a tax or fee for everything under the sun, not as many people would need help. But go ahead and ask for more sales tax that you can waste.
