@Gingitv @itrukarlito @derccl I'm only giving you shit about it because your original post was jumping to scolding us for being freeloaders without having all the information.

What’s with all the UI crash outs. If you dont want to pay a 5 dollar sub for something people put hours in to so you save tons of hours then don’t use their uis? There are free alternatives and profiles online too. There is a reason why the paywalled ones are good and maintained, for some content creators, smaller sized ones especially it gives them the opportunity to live off it.

@Devon_Eriksen_ One observation (unrelated to this post, obviously): he looks like some kind of deranged and malevolent goblin that just crawled out of a swamp

We all know what's really going on here. Utah senator John Curtis, and other political hacks like him, are getting their boomer asses handed to them on social media. They long for the days of television, when they could control the narrative by having a cozy relationship with the networks, and so they could lie to you without fear of contradiction by some autist named @DataRepublican whose existence is solely defined by her full-time hobby of sniffing out lying dirtbags. So they want to pass a bunch of laws to make the internet behave like television. To filter it all through a set of major website choke-points that they can control by threatening the corporate entities that run them. Long, complicated, and vaguely defined liability laws are a tool to do that. Basically what they do is allow John Curtis to put any website out of business if people say mean things about him on it, such as pointing out that he looks like some kind of deranged and malevolent goblin that just crawled out of a swamp. The problem he has right now is that when I say stuff like that on Twitter, I'm the one who said it. Not Twitter. There's nothing he can do to me. Because even if I get hit by a unmarked sedan tomorrow in a totally unrelated accident, there's a million more people like me who are only too happy to point out that John Curtis looks like a deranged and malevolent goblin that just crawled out of a swamp. So he wants legal tools to punish Twitter for what I said. So how does he go about that? What is a deranged and malevolent goblin, with a "business management" degree, and a history of changing political parties when convenient, to do? Why, muddy the waters with vague platitudes about "safety", of course. Except we've heard that song before, and we're not interested. So let us laugh at him, remind him that he looks like a deranged and malevolent goblin that just crawled out of a swamp, and mock until he goes back to doing what he normally does, which is shilling for the "Fairness For High Skilled Immigrants Act". And then we can eventually replace him with someone who cares about fairness to actual fucking Americans.

Senator John Curtis@SenJohnCurtis

We hold carmakers, toymakers, and drug companies accountable if their products cause harm. Why should social media be any different? It’s time to make sure their algorithms are safe. And hold them responsible if they’re not.

@_Reloe Probably lower than you'd think. The Blizzard API is changing rapidly and AI tends to struggle with it (in my experience) when it's very different than how the API was during training.

@NY_LBSS The topic of this thread is an email written by Thiel in 2020, and basically every millennial grievance of today existed in equal magnitude back then. So we should discuss generational changes without just saying "mortgages got really expensive in 2023".

Housing costs as percent of income aren't historically high and student debt just isn't an issue for most graduates. Millennials are owning homes and building wealth about on track with previous generations. I am boomer-pilled on telling others of my generation they spiritually suck and need to get over it. Social media created status anxiety and inflated life expectations far in excess of what is realistic. The lifestyle my parents had is now viewed as impoverished and low-status. Young strivers want socialism to make their dream lifestyle possible, which is why Mamdani is the candidate of the precarious urban middle class who want a Hukou ticket to live a privileged existence as one of the special people in the world's most in-demand city.
Chamath Palihapitiya@chamath

Here is Peter Thiel’s email to Zuck and Andreessen in Jan-2020 predicting socialism. Tl;dr too much student debt and lack of affordable housing keeps young people with negative capital for too long. And without a stake in the capitalist system, they will turn against it.

Pretty good reason to default to `const` if you want to be able to see the inferred types from your function. For some reason TypeScript just truncates the type when using the `function` keyword...
Julius@jullerino

@justfly1984 @t3dotgg Cause typescript collapses the shit out of types when using function vs arrow functions. Try it when you have a big type, function will cause TS to truncate it (just shows …) way more aggressively than if you change to const

@Warcraft thank you for the visual changes to covenant spells in 10.2.5, I've been wanting to see Soul Rot and Faeline Stomp brought more in line with the class theme for a while. Love this change, the new versions look awesome

@paulg This is the worst sort of casuistry because it conflates criticism with childlike complaining. Unless you are proposing full anarcho-capitalism, it is disingenuous to suggest that our system has no room for improvement, and our only choice is take it or leave it. Shameful

People complaining about "capitalism" are like teenagers complaining about their parents. 1. Most are only able to thanks to the high standard of living supplied by capitalism/their parents. 2. Most of their problems are not in fact due to capitalism/their parents.
