@divine_economy I like it. Although people who delegated early may be unwittingly penalized by subsequent delegations.. Another approach is to simply put a cap on the number of votes a delegate can carry.

imagine a logarithmic function where any given delegate can only approach a horizon of power. at a certain point, voters should be incentivized to seek out more diverse voices for their votes to count. and actively find delegates rather than relying on the top choices.

sure, delegation lets you put your votes behind experts-on-the-ground, but there's a huge cost: centralization that *favors* inactive voters who pool their votes. the solution: each vote given to an individual delegate should count less than the one before.

@getgovr Hi can you have your CEO Ryan give me a shout? He hasn't responded to my last 3 emails. I need to know if Gov'r is partnering with us on the Represent API project, or we move ahead without. thx.

@VitalikButerin Transferability has this danger yes - but eliminating it won't solve the problem and creates others. We need systems of delegation that empower people to choose qualities such as expertise and values over personality. Liquid trust can do this; blog.ethelo.org/use-trust-netw…

Agreeing with the proverb "those who most want to rule people are those least suited to do it" and supporting DAOs being run by transferable governance tokens is a contradiction. Transferable governance tokens are all about giving *more* power to "those who most want to rule".

@BenWest @divine_economy @chaserchapman @ethelo +1 the next step in the evolution of democracy will be real-time digital, and harnessing game design techniques to optimize productive participation will be key to raising our collective IQ and improving group decisions

Governance as entertainment is underrated Today, we think about governance as "serious decision making" (and that's certainly important) But when governance is re-framed as "entertainment" ‒ it becomes a new form of media Which blows open the design space for what's possible

@joshalerner @ethelo Hi @joshalerner you are quite right - we used the term incorrectly here. While Ethelo can do participatory budgeting - and would love to do more of them!!! - many of our local government customers are just looking to do a consultation process. Thanks for the catch.

@ethelo Sorry, is that a typo? You mean "Learn how to build an online budget consultation"? #Participatorybudgeting = people decide Budget consultation = people give input Pls don’t try to piggyback on PB’s popularity and dilute people’s power.
