🔴 May 5 is #RedDressDay, a day that represents and reminds us of the ongoing crisis, urgent need for action, and #CallstoJustice for #MMIWG2S peoples. ✊ As we reflect on these important messages today, let’s stand together in solidarity to support survivors and their families.

Without protests, we would still live in a segregated country. Without protests, women would still be second class citizens. Without protests, the LGBTQ+ community would still be hiding their identities.

How can we as an institution sustain an inclusive and safe environment for our students when we invite speakers that willingly spread misinformation - actively harming our student population. I’ve heard from multiple students who have read this tweet and now feel unsafe. It’s sad

Equating anti-war/pro-Palestinian rights protests as pro-hamas is problematic especially given the number of reputable media outlets that have stated the encampment organizers are focused on anti-war efforts, similar to what happened during the Vietnam war or apartheid S. Africa

It’s so disappointing to see misinformation regarding protests being spread especially from a well respected scientists that’s been invited to my institution. As scientists in a post COVID world, we know better than to spread false information and narratives.

It will always amaze me how @uOttawa will find ways to charge their student associations with different fees just to use open spaces on our campuses…..I know times are tough but why charge the student associations that already don’t have much financially

Ethnic cleansing is happening and politicians are tweeting about graffiti against ethnic cleansing instead of ending ethnic cleansing.

My list of reasons to never recommend @uOttawa continues to grow. This institution makes it okay for professors to say the n word in class but a resident can’t use their personal accounts to promote ceasefires. This institution has fallen too far!

Gaza has taught me that a lot of people who claim to be human rights activists are only active when it applies to people of a specific background or ethnicity.
