@Atomsmade No not in the NT, you’re not reading it to understand, you’re reading it with preconceived ideas, if you’re reading it at all.

The bible god clearly endorses slavery both in the Old Testament and New Testament. Christianity itself got spread into some African countries through the transatlantic slave trade. Till now, slavery still continues through childhood indoctrination. Needless to say, god loves suffering, it gives him pleasure. It is even said being poor gets you closer to god and harder for the rich to get in. Same thing Mother Teresa preached. His own son cried out, “My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?” and got silence. No answers, just a quiet that believers later turned into meaning. Not to talk about Africans! It is stupidly funny how such a god can sleep peacefully through suffering, war, Holocaust, and pandemics, and stay absent when it matters, and still wake up to claim every victory. Religion is an insult to human intelligence and dignity!

I ask again Where was Bible God during slavery?

@Kaito_Da_Wolf A biology class does not adequately show how a human hand evolved from something else, nor does any real science. At some point mainstream “science”, not by definition of the word, has accepted hypothesis as fact and developed its own religion/mythology.

@realCarola2Hope The Catholic Church is not the church Jesus founded, read your Bible without catechisms that came a couple hundreds of years after Jesus. We are the church, and while there’s structure in the NT, there is NO man the sits in place of Christ, and many Catholic traditions not biblic

“Follow Jesus, not the Pope” is peak Protestant cope. If you really wanted a personal relationship with Jesus, you’d submit to the Church He founded instead of your feelings, your pastor, or a 500-year-old protest. Jesus didn’t invent denominations. He said “Upon this rock I will build My Church, and the gates of hell will not prevail against it.”
Jillian Anderson@Jillie_Alexis

You don’t need the Pope to have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ.

@OannesInNineveh @ToriatheistTori I did know Mark was first gospel written, and Mark was likely writing Peter’s experience. I knew Mark was a framework for others and about Mark 16:8. Jesus’ prophecy being about Paul, I think that’s a stretch. Peter writes about Paul’s writings in 2nd Peter how some won’t underst

@redseptember13 @ToriatheistTori Did you know Mark was the 1st Gospel written? No you didn't. Did you know Matthew and Luke copied from Mark? Nope, you didn't. Did you know the original Mark gospel ended at 16:8? Not a chance in hell! Did you know Jesus prophesied about Paul saying he'd see Jesus in the desert?

@HipHop_Debates @ToriatheistTori So true. I try not to reply to these anymore. So true, they don’t care at all, that’s atheism at its finest, you do what you want with no consequence, even if dishonest, thank you

@dekim_Kalvino Old Testament law. Was capital punishment back in those days. Today it teaches us the difference between what is holy and profane. What is acceptable to God and what is not. Those who practice such things will not inherit the Kingdom of God. We are not bound to OT law though.

@iamAtheistGirl Again, you speak arrogantly about something you know nothing about- neither do I- neither do any of us. Mocking the afterlife lacks wisdom. You may just cease to exist. But you also may wake up a lost and hurting soul with no relief because you chose to live without a fear of God

@GeoRebekah And 1.3 billion cubic km of water?! Did you measure that yourself? Depths included? I don’t know where you people get off making these wild claims you make. Mind you, I’m not making a claim for anything other than this is t science.

@GeoRebekah The problem is that’s not science. Science by definition is observable. Where were you 450 million years ago when that tectonic plate started lifting?

Science is the cure for religion. The fossils on Qomolangma (Everest) are about 450 million years old. They are shallow sea-water shell hashes from before the tectonic plate was lifted. That photo and discoveries along the mountain include trilabites. They went extinct 252 million years ago (Everest started to form about 60 million years ago). Earth would need 5.8 billion cubic km of water to flood to the top of Everest. Earth has a TOTAL 1.3 billion cubic km of water. IF earth had enough water to flood the entire planet all the way to the top of everything (it doesn't), it would take a very long time for those shells to form AND fossilize there, and according to the fairy tales, the flood lasted only a year. And none of those sea creatures found fossilized would be able to form in such low salinity and high elevation. At 8,900 meters above sea level, the temperature is -46°C/-50°F. Everything would freeze to death. Additionally.... The flood myth - originally the Epic of Gilgamesh - happened 2500 BCE. It would have wiped out all existing cultures.... including the Greeks, Egyptians, Indus Valley, Mesoamerica, and YET.... we have uninterrupted chrological histories from every one of them. There are a great many scientific and historical reasons why the flood myth is known to be a farce. But it's the physics of the planet that really destroy the narrative. #KnowledgeIsPower

@Ihunanya_chi I do, because just because we have the Holy Spirit in us doesn’t mean we are being led by the Spirit. We can be filled and not follow. We can have the power but not use it. We can quench the Spirit, or grieve the Spirit, both phrases in the NT written to Spirit filled believers.

I was scrolling through Facebook when I saw a news report about a young pastor who had taken his own life. It really broke my heart. Then I commented that no one who truly has the Holy Spirit dwelling in them would commit suicide. But that comment sparked a lot of reactions. Some people pushed back. One person mentioned Elijah, saying he once wished to die. Another asked if I knew how many “men of God” struggle and take their lives each month because of challenges. Someone else quoted Jesus words from Gospel of Matthew about cutting off your hand if it causes you to sin, arguing that maybe ending one’s life could be seen as preventing future sin and securing heaven instead of risking hell. Those responses really caught my attention, and I addressed them. But what struck me most is that many of the people making these arguments identify as Christians, hmmm and there seems to be confusion about very basic biblical teachings. It reflects a deeper issue in the church today, many attend services but lack sound teaching and personal study of Scripture. So let me ask you: what is your view? Do you believe someone who truly has the Holy Spirit dwelling in them can commit suicide? I’d genuinely like to hear your thoughts on this.

@Maximumatheist You’re engaging by posting this. You could have just left it. And before someone accuses me of the same, I’m not making any statement about not engaging with anyone, @Maximumatheist is.

@ActualCorn It’s not that we’re afraid of everything. In this case what I’m seeing just looks gross and dark. I would not enjoy being in that environment at all, Christian or non-Christian. If that’s what you like fine, but not for me.

@Phayvhor_ Because it doesn’t make sense that everything came out of nothing. There had to be something first, whether we’re capable of understanding what that is or not. God is a better explanation than random evolution from nothing.

@_Ochiedike That question is actually answered in the Bible. And I think you know that. And if you don’t, the answer is they did it in ignorance, and that time of ignorance God overlooks, but NOW God commands men (and women) everywhere to repent.
