Time and space have given me the opportunity to pause and be more observant of the outside world and be more mindful and reflective of what’s spinning in my own head. Read my latests post: tinyurl.com/pn7r2jmn

@aprilkoh_ 5 months for me with kiddo #1. On my first night back in the BWH ICU with a dozen sick-as-crap patients, I tried to sneak away to pump in the call room. I called it in that moment. The kid is now 20 yrs old and a 5'10" college junior. It all works out in the end!

@chrissyfarr Once upon a time, I’d have said Gabriel Garcia Marquez. But today, the first name that comes to mind is Ann Patchett.

Asking someone their favorite author of all time is incredibly revealing. Especially if they provide a real answer. Here's mine - no judgements please: Somerset Maugham. Who is yours?

@RebeccaCoelius Agree and have been having this exact conversation with my VC pals - is the model truly differentiated and novel enough for it to merit venture investment or is it just good old clinical care delivered through technology (which should exist but might not be prime for VC $$).

Great breakdown from Dhruv and IMO this also maps to what is and is not a venture backable TES company… If the care model is not novel, and does not require or meaningfully benefit from novel enabling tech, I struggle to find the high risk/high reward angle. Unless you are YOLOing into extreme regulatory or business model risk, and in that case there had better be major first mover advantage.
Dhruv Vasishtha@dvasishtha

A very common conversation im having with founders of tech enabled series biz right now is how much to invest or not invest in product / tech. Topics like how many PMs to hire, who they should report to, etc. I think it really comes to how unique your care model is.

@chrissyfarr @daphnezohar Yeah you can really shine and show your smarts if you're good at it! I'm an ok moderator but am better at sharing my opinions as a speaker so lean that direction when I can

I asked a prominent female CEO I know recently how she decided what to say yes to with speaking events; media requests etc. given how much inbound she gets. Especially to avoid getting over-exposed and distracted. — “Yes” to basically all media, on or off the record. — “No” to most conferences if it means travel & especially no if it’s to be “the token woman” on the panel. Can’t say that’s bad advice.

I have this pathological addiction to saying what I really think about our health care system and in extremely public forums and I'm still waiting for it to blow up in my face. But it never seems to? Maybe transparency is actually more OK than we think?

Been mulling this article over in my head a long time. Finally put pen to paper but it feels a bit incomplete I think because mental health is just so complex and nuanced. But it's a start. The Road Less Traveled: What's Next in Mental Health Innovation? open.substack.com/pub/reenapande…
