Nurse redeployment & ICU capacity - LONG thread. Nurses aren't interchangeable. We're highly skilled, educated, evidence-informed professionals. The @canadanurses certifies 22 specialties from premature babies to burns to hospice, though there are almost 100 specialties.

Dr. Verna Yiu says there are 310 Albertans in ICU, 226 of them with COVID-19. Says that's an ICU record for Alberta. The average admissions is 23+ per day over the past five days. Says they can only keep up in ICU because people are dying.
