@Chinaluemmanuel From my understanding the judge asked the defendant who was representing him and he said the other lawyer right there in court.
English

If a Lawyer could withdraw a Bail Application not on the ground that the Defendant refused to pay his professional fee but on the ground that he was not allowed to lead his colleagues or seniors, the lawyer never had the interest of the Defendant who is in detention at heart.
Whatever the case may be, seniority at the Bar and the QUEST TO LEAD YOUR TEAM BY ALL MEANS will not, in my view, be a cogent reason why a lawyer will technically ask his client to remain in detention.
Did the lawyer inform the defendant of his decision to withdraw?
Can the lawyer, in this case, say he protected the interest of the Defendant?

NIGERIA POLICE FORCE INTENSIFIES INTERNAL CLEANSING, DISMISSES CORRUPT OFFICERS, PROSECUTES PERSONNEL INVOLVED IN KIDNAPPING, ROBBERY, EXTORTION
The Nigeria Police Force has reaffirmed its commitment to discipline, accountability, and institutional reform with the dismissal, arrest, and prosecution of police personnel found involved in cases of conspiracy, armed robbery, kidnapping, extortion, stealing, and abuse of office in Rivers State and its environs.
The Force notes that the actions of the affected officers represent a gross betrayal of the ethics, standards, and professional values of the Nigeria Police Force. The leadership of the Force under the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olatunji Rilwan Disu, psc (+), NPM, remains resolute in its determination to identify, expose, and remove criminal elements from within the institution, irrespective of rank or position.
Investigations into one of the cases uncovered a criminal syndicate involving serving police officers attached to Zone 16 Headquarters, Yenagoa, namely Inspector Ayanniyi Jelili, Inspector Durojaye Francis, and Inspector Olayemi Titus, who allegedly engaged in armed robbery, kidnapping, and extortion while operating illegal patrols within Port Harcourt. The officers reportedly abducted victims during unlawful stop-and-search operations, forcefully gained access to their banking and cryptocurrency applications, and extorted millions of naira from them.
The investigation led to the arrest of the three officers, while three other accomplices identified as Inspector Awele Ogbogu, Inspector Prosper Aghotor, and Corporal Favour Onwuchekwa are currently at large. Exhibits recovered include three Toyota Sienna buses used for the illegal operations and the sum of ₦7,338,800.00 traced to the criminal activities. Findings further revealed that the suspects operated with firearms and had allegedly carried out similar operations against unsuspecting members of the public within Rivers State.
In a separate investigation, the Force uncovered another criminal syndicate involving officers formerly attached to the Department of Operations, Rivers State Command, namely Inspector John Okoi, Inspector Eyibo Asuquo, Inspector Udo Ndipmong, Inspector Bright Nwachukwu, and Inspector Anele Ikechukwu, who engaged in organised acts of kidnapping, extortion, stealing, and official corruption. The dismissed officers were found to have routinely abducted citizens, extorted money through unlawful transfers from victims’ bank and cryptocurrency accounts, and dispossessed them of valuables while operating under the guise of official patrol duties.
Consequently, the five implicated officers were subjected to orderly room proceedings and dismissed from the Nigeria Police Force, while the case file has been forwarded for prosecution on charges bordering on conspiracy, armed robbery, kidnapping, extortion, official corruption, and related offences.
Members of the public are encouraged to continue reporting cases of police misconduct, abuse of office, extortion, and human rights violations through established complaint channels for prompt investigation and action.
The Nigeria Police Force remains committed to a professional, transparent, accountable, and service-driven policing system firmly rooted in the rule of law and the protection of citizens’ rights.

EPIC MODE ACTIVATED
President Trump stared down Xi Jinping and delivered a masterstroke that left the room in silence:
“I brought the 30 most powerful business leaders on the planet to these talks… and they all said yes. I didn’t send the second-in-command or the vice president.
I wanted the number one from each empire! Jensen Huang, Tim Cook, Elon Musk, and the other titans… the best in the world are here, right in front of you.”
Then, with his winner’s smile, he sealed the deal:
“They’re here today to pay respect to you and to China. They come hungry to do business, invest, and create. From our side, it’ll be 100% reciprocal.”
The message is clear: America isn’t coming to beg. It’s coming with the supreme bosses of global innovation to lay all the cards on the table.
This isn’t normal diplomacy… this is high-voltage diplomacy!

@MaziEzike_Nedu @NigeriaStories You file a bail application. The accused tells the judge in court that you are not his lawyer, after you've travelled in to represent him. What do you do?
English

@NigeriaStories Legal proceedings should never be hijacked by ego or internal power struggles.
Pulling out a bail application because of leadership disagreements inside the legal team leaves the client vulnerable and completely derails public confidence in active advocacy

Good morning.
Incase you have no reason to be angry today, here’s one.
A lady received what was supposed to be a modeling job offer. For safety reasons, she decided to go with her friend. When they got there, they realized the job offer had only been used to lure them in. The man not only raped both the lady and her friend, but also threatened them with a knife and blackmailed them. There is chat evidence to support their claims. The matter was taken to court, but the case was thrown out, and the rapist was freed.
The judge said “No case”.
Mind you, owning a self defense tool is illegal in Nigeria.
We’re fucked.

Every butterfly struggles for hours to break free from its cocoon. If you try to help it out, it may not survive. The struggle itself is what strengthens its wings for flight.
In the same way, God allows us to go through difficult times so we can grow stronger through our challenges. Brothers and sisters, no situation is too difficult to overcome. All you need is perseverance and a prayerful heart. Stay strong, keep believing, and you will surely make it through.

You need to be a visionary, at least for your own life.
I recently realised that every other person does not have the ability to create a mental picture of their future, hold on to it and work towards it regardless of their present circumstances.
It was my wife who pointed this out to me. She said some people cannot lead even themselves. instead, they’re loyal followers. They need to be told what to do. They can vaguely describe their future, but lack the ability to formalise it and create an actionable plan, let alone the commitment and consistency to execute that plan.
For people like this, I think it makes sense to find a visionary with similar interests and follow in their footsteps. I do think finding that visionary is more difficult than leading yourself, but it is better than leaving everything to chance.
Some people would have turned out differently if they had someone else who showed them that it is possible to get a job in NNPC, scholarships abroad, etc, without 'connections'.
Since they can’t imagine a better life for themselves, their actions/inactions are motivated by incentives, not vision.
It took a while for me to believe my wife because it’s hard to even imagine that some human beings live like this.
You hear them say things like "school na scam" or use criminals like internet fraudsters as references in their arguments because to them, incentives are all that matters.
They cannot create their own world in their mind, so they reach out to what they consider the 'real world', observe and adopt behaviours the 'real world' rewards.
These are the people who want to study medicine, law or engineering, and more recently want to become software engineers because in the 'real world', there are incentives to pursue these career paths. It is the same explanation for people who have explored UI/UX design, forex, crypto, sports betting, social media influencing, etc, all in their 20s. It looks like hard work, but it isn’t.

@DaddyZeal1 @jon_d_doe If you feel the economy was stable when we were borrowing to pay salaries then I don't know what to say.
English

@jon_d_doe PDP's major flaw was corruption, no doubt. But at least they were conscious about keeping the economy stable.
APC came and out-corrupted PDP, and completely destroyed the economy while at it.
Now, all Tinubu cares about is remaining in power, and he's not ashamed to show it.
English

Of course, fools are known to react the way you have to facts that expose heir fóólishness.
Let's educate you
1. It's a fact that you're a product of a broken legal education. Nigeria is a home of injustice and most "political" lawyers are corrupt, unjust and unprofessional. One of them was caught on video defending Umahi when Sowore challenged his unlawful arrest of the woman who claimed he owed him money. Such dirty shameless lawyers are your role models. Aren't they?
2. It's true that you didn't care about justice. Your comment is about FEAR and BEGGING. It shows that indeed your mentality is 3rd world where citizens have to beg Oppressors. A sound mind would focus on the process and elements of the case and pathway to justice. But certainly not a shallow mind like you
English

Like play, like play, this @sowore fit enter prison. He is taking his trial like a joke.
As soon as he is sentenced by the court and imprisoned (which I pray it shouldn’t happen), everyone will forget him and move on, like they are doing to Nnamdi Kanu.
My sincere advice is that he should find a more diplomatic way out and let all those charges be dropped. Na from “YOU DON’T KNOW THE LAW” to “SOKOTO PRISON”, na so the joke dey take sometimes ohh
