One of the reasons why PDF files that purport to be bank statements are believed to be reliable is that all serious adults understand that if you *$#(%( with one for advantage over a counterparty, you will be prosecuted, with very high probability. See linked thread.

@Faux_Schlmoe @brokerfreecapai @patio11 Blacklists are problematic due to identity theft. Many fraudsters steal identities of existing businesses to apply. This is because most onboarding processes do have (for legit reasons) soft authentication/authorization steps.

@patio11 The probability is actually not that low. Internationally, about 1% of PDF files (significant variances per geo/vertical) are intentionally manipulated wen used for loan applications or KYC/KYB.

@BronzeLeaguePro @hallerite @patio11 Digital signatures on PDF files are not uncommon (1% of files). But due to the age of the PDF standard and past design choices, they don't provide enough assurance. So we ( resistant.ai ) validate with other means.

@hallerite @patio11 They have for some things in some places. But there's a whole chain of stuff you need first, and that's not cheap, and if it costs more than it tastes, why do it?
