After several years of interested but not knowing which server to pick, I'm now also part of the #TwitterMigration and have made a #Mastodon account. You can find it at @rmellema" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener">mastodon.social/@rmellema

A lot of people who say they want "free speech" actually just want to be the one in charge of which speech is free.

One of the most pernicious misconceptions that the tech industry has about human psychology is a strong belief in essentialist, deterministic, "born with it" personality traits that map cleanly onto homogenous, quantity-stable productivity outputs.

Self-ID? Not an issue in Belgium, India, Pakistan, France, Denmark, Greece, Iceland, Argentina, Brazil, Malta, Norway, Portugal, Switzerland, New Zealand, Chile, Luxembourg etc, etc. Saying #NoToSelfID is morally indefensible. Say NO to the haters and defend #HumanRights!

It's striking how many of the fights that matter most now--for trans justice, for reproductive justice, for non-whites, fat folx, and women--are for the simple, crucial recognition that a person's body is for them, and nobody else to fuck with, police, coerce, control, or exploit

Over the past week I also made a Twitter list with social simulation people. However, I’m sure to have missed some, so also feel free to send me more additions twitter.com/i/lists/155092…

I was looking at the public transport map at the tram stop this morning, and then this friendly Italian asked me where I need to go. He then shows me a route half en hour faster than what the official route planner gave me ☺️

We mourn the passing but celebrate the life and achievements of Saul Aaron Kripke (Nov. 13, 1940–Sep. 15, 2022). His family and friends ask for privacy at this time.

I had not expected to hear a talk on relativistic space time so we can model interactions with alien societies, but it’s actually an interesting exercise on modelling assumptions #SSC2022

This is the longest I’ve ever had to queue to vote (~20 min) and I’m almost at the official start of the queue. Wondering how long the full wait will be
