It’s hard to feel any emotional connection to a team that is not even half native English.
It makes international football just seem like a club tournament rather than nation against nation.
I’ll still cheer on the English lads but it’s sad to see others miss out for Africans.

What’s the point in a ‘national’ football team if someone who is NOT from that nation can join? Maguire should play for England. Guéh should play for Ivory Coast. Common sense. Leaving aside jokes and memes about Starmer, my honest opinion on the immigration statistics is that it is too late to do what the government wants, which is to detoxify the discussion and lull the public back into not thinking about it.
People are no longer angry about statistics, but with what is confronting them in the real world.
The hardening of rhetoric and lurch to the right are reactions to previous waves of immigration confronting them and submerging them, not to what could come in the future.
So, as a volatile issue, it is permanently baked into the social fabric until it is undone and reversed.

Look at the England teams at u16 level, almost completely black. White kids disadvantaged & impeded at crucial ages.
