Personally, rather than being vulnerable, I allow myself to be humble - to show I’m not always correct, that I can laugh at myself, and I can be honest about my faults. But I do not show vulnerability any more - it’s a slippery slope from there to showing weakness. And I’m going to respectfully disagree that she wanted a “monster.” She wanted her husband to lead, but she married a man who was incapable of doing so. Of course, the man pays a price for this leadership and extreme ownership - his peace. We all must decide whether this loss of peace is offset by the benefits of having a woman in your life. The answer to this has much to do with the man’s phase of life.: If you’re young and want a family, then it is most likely worth it. It gets less clear-cut when you’re older, divorced, and already have kids. I am the latter, and lately have realized how exhausting the loss of my peace can be. And now I have to decide whether that loss is worth it to me.
