Tekken 8 - the way it works online fixes the issues that existed in older games(on many levels) so i actually feel bad for devs , running in circles and dealing with some of those complaining NPCs who already forgot or never played ps3 era. As for best of 3 forced? They gonna cry taking another laggy match after they already lost the first one...

Arkadyzja supports 1000+ games, the thing is - you can play random games everywhere with no effort: steam, ps5 etc. Real tekken with rollback is (unfortunately) only on arkadyzja and thats where tekken dominance is coming from. Upcoming Ps2 netplay might balance things a bit.

@rencoding I think a similar thing is happening with arkadyzja where people start the app find no one playing games execpt tekken 3 and log out, a system similar to what i explained would facilitate more online sessions with randoms since its much easier to find each other

You dont realize how niche and hardcore playing on emulators is. People think they need rollback but what they actually need is friends/social skills or effort to find groups on fb/discord. Tekken 5 DR rollback has 0 players right now, we dont know how many random people gonna play, but i like the game and i know who im gonna call once its ready, thats why its coming.

@rencoding Right now the problem with arkdyzja and basically every online platform is that if you want to play a game that isn’t actively played you have to start a session and wait for someone whos interested for that game to open arkdyzja and look for session list and find your game

Asked the community and in general answer was "im not gonna deal with those wifi kids" (kinda correct lol). Anyway, i only do netplay, preferably rollback which is a performance slam dunk on cpu and not everyone is running snap 8 elite - that would lead to frustration. Try GGPOZ, Retroarch, iisu, ppsspp, flycast etc. Many options exists for android already to play online.

Its far from great job. There is no SF4 rollback for a reason(same for DR,MK9 etc.). These capcom collections are bare minimum so you gonna buy them but not stick to them(no crossplay...). Instead of SF3 Online Edition PC port we got some poor lagfest attempt by external interns.

@Speedkicks @CapcomFighters Capcom and Bandai Namco should have been rereleasing their games with rollback. Capcom’s been doing a great job with their collections, but USF4, SFxT, and UMVC3 would benefit heavily from updated netcode. I would also like to not need a PS3 to play Tekken 5 DR.

First of all - every tekken player should buy PPSSPP Gold because without this masterpiece in both performance and tooling/features - DR and T6 rollback would be impossible to even attempt.

Honestly, when @rencoding does make this happen, I’d like to see the FGC financially support the one polish guy. I have a lot of personal experience spending time and energy into projects into FGC that don’t always translate into financial support. Arka T5DR deserves the $$.

Biggest highlight of Tekken 6 was the fact that its the first tekken where most of the cast felt complete/usable for an intermidiate player(more in a toolkit than balance sense actually). Difference between DR and T6 Asuka, Bruce,Baek,Hwo, Drag,Armor,Lei,Lee and many others is monumental(also because of movement nerf,10f jabs,i12 punishers, homings, hitboxes...). Thats why many prefer T6 over DR because it started modern tekken era. It plays exactly like T7 (poking/counterhit heavy). DR was the last one in the classic era of long range/timing/spacing/godlike movement. Mishima players obviously loves it.

Thanks, im already married. T6 rollback gonna be ready anyway. Funny how back then this game was kinda hated by many, but now it plays like a masterpiece in comparison to Tekken 8. Tekken Crash was so fun to watch too.

T5 DR rollback is not "if" anymore, its "when" (this year). Tekken 6 rollback im not sure yet, but im giving it 80% chance im gonna make it happen.

Thats weak mentality i see alot in fgc. "There is not enough players so i wont play and reduce playerbase even more". You like vf enough to play or you dont, simple as that, its definitely not dead.

Why still bother with DOA when easy transition path exists called Virtua Fighter. Rollback + crossplay is there for vf5, vf6 looks promising too. Even if they would add rollback for DOA6- lobbies gonna be empty.

Bro you literally did a plain n64-looking tech demo. For AAA game - presentation matters alot more than rollback and yet they made the effort to make it work well. When i say T8 netplay is near perfect - its relative for how game looks/performs/responsive the input is. Gameplay is ass, thats a different topic and thats why i do what i do, thats probably why you started your project too. But saying "my netplay is better" while there are two squares on the screen is unfair.

@rencoding It's backwards to blame stutters on player hardware, and not the game itself, when the purpose of rollback is to avoid delaying and freezing the game while waiting for player inputs. I've made a 3D fighter that can simulate hundreds of ticks in one frame. What's Tekken's problem?

@rencoding i understand this but its also a fact that despite the possibly good netcode, it cant function if it throttles everybody's PCs, one of the most famous tekken figures, Phi, constantly has a battle with Tekken 8.

Stutter means the maximum nr of supported rollback frames has been reached and game has to pause to keep sync. Since T8 is crossplay and pc - max nr of rollback frames may vary on hardware. T8 netplay is near perfect, random people internet quality/setup/pc rigs are not.

@BKNVo I wonder what the cause of the stutter even is In old games that only used delay based netcode, they would freeze if the opp's input data hasn't arrived yet. Tekken 8 allegedly has rollback, though. Where's the damn rollback, it's supposed to fix this jgdkgdjg

Linux native client is already being tested by ko-fi supporters- its on par with windows client(auto updater etc.) and will be ready for Q4 full release (ps2,mame,fbneo )
