BREAKING: The US military is preparing to board Iran-linked oil tankers and seize commercial ships in international waters, per WSJ.
Details include:
1. The report comes just hours after Iran has declared the Strait of Hormuz closed again
2. This move is intended to "step up economic pressure" on Iran to force them to reopen Hormuz
3. The US says its blockade "will actively pursue any Iranian-flagged vessel or any vessel attempting to provide material support to Iran"
4. Iran has been exporting over 2 million barrels of oil per day throughout the war which are now at risk
The Strait of Hormuz remains in contention.

Interest on US federal debt has never been higher:
In the first 6 months of Fiscal Year 2025, interest expense jumped +7% YoY, to $623 billion, the highest for this period in history.
This is even higher than during the massive pandemic response in 2021, when the budget deficit was at $1.7 trillion.
Over the last 12 months, gross interest expense is running at a record $1.3 trillion.
As a result, interest is now the 2nd-largest spending category, only behind Social Security at $1.6 trillion.
Interest expenditures are $300 billion larger than health spending and $400 billion larger than defense spending.
The US debt crisis is in full swing.

🇨🇳🇮🇷 China's Defense Minister just told the U.S. Navy directly: our ships are going through the Strait, we have agreements with Iran and you don't touch them.
The U.S. blockade is live with 15 warships in position and China just announced it's sailing through anyway.
The next ship that tests that line is a geopolitical event.
