The Psychology of the End-time Deception
"And ALL the WORLD WONDERED after the BEAST." (Revelation 13:3)
Before the world worships the beast... It first wonders after the beast. This is one of the most profound statements in Bible prophecy. The Holy Spirit reveals that the final apostasy will not begin with force.
• It will begin with admiration.
• It will begin with amazement.
• It will begin with the world's confidence in a papal system that appears to have the answers to humanity's greatest problems.
Wonder Precedes Worship
Notice the divine order.
"All the world wondered after the beast." (Revelation 13:3)
Then...
"They worshipped the dragon... and they worshipped the beast." (Revelation 13:4)
The world does not suddenly wake up one morning worshipping the beast.
First... They admire.
Then... They trust.
Finally... They surrender their allegiance.
This has always been Satan's method.
In Eden, Eve:
First... LOOKED,
Then... DESIRED,
Finally.... ATE
(Genesis 3:6).
Deception always begins by capturing the mind before controlling the actions.
Why Does the World Wonder?
Because the Papacy appears to possess the answers. The world longs for:
Peace. Unity. Stability. Security. Prosperity. Moral leadership.
When humanity reaches the point where it believes Papal religious-political system can solve its deepest crises, admiration naturally follows. Yet Scripture warns:
"There is a way which seemeth right unto a man, but the end thereof are the ways of death." (Proverbs 14:12)
The Beast Receives Universal Admiration
John writes: "Who is like unto the beast? who is able to make war with him?" (Revelation 13:4)
This language is remarkable. It echoes praise that belongs to God alone. Compare:
"Who is like unto thee, O LORD, among the gods?" (Exodus 15:11)
The Papacy receives admiration that mirrors the reverence due only to God. This is the essence of counterfeit worship.
Wonder Leads to Worship
Revelation never separates admiration from worship.
First: Wonder.
Then: Worship.
Satan understands that hearts captured by admiration soon surrender their allegiance. This is why Scripture repeatedly warns:
"Little children, keep yourselves from idols." (1 John 5:21)
An idol is anything that occupies the place that belongs to God alone.
The Whole World Is Deceived
Revelation says: "All that dwell upon the earth shall worship him, whose names are not written in the book of life." (Revelation 13:8)
Earlier John identified Satan as: "...that old serpent... which deceiveth the whole world." (Revelation 12:9)
The final crisis is therefore not merely political. It is a worldwide deception. Jesus Himself warned:
"Take heed that no man deceive you." (Matthew 24:4)
"For there shall arise false Christs, and false prophets... insomuch that, if it were possible, they shall deceive the very elect." (Matthew 24:24)
Only One Group Refuses to Wonder
While the world wonders... Another group stands.
"Here are they that keep the commandments of God, and the faith of Jesus." (Revelation 14:12)
While the world follows the beast... They follow the Lamb.
"These are they which follow the Lamb whithersoever he goeth." (Revelation 14:4)
Their confidence is not in earthly systems.
It is in Christ.
The Final Test Is Allegiance
The Great Controversy has never been about military power alone. It has always been about worship. Isaiah records Lucifer's ambition:
"I will exalt my throne... I will be like the most High." (Isaiah 14:13–14)
Revelation shows the fulfillment of that ambition. Satan receives worship through the Papal system.
"They worshipped the dragon... and they worshipped the beast." (Revelation 13:4)
Thus the world's admiration becomes the doorway to its submission.
In the end, the object of your admiration will become the object of your allegiance, and the object of your allegiance will become the object of your worship.
