Since the Renewable Fuels Standard was implemented in 2007, the number of corn acres planted in the U.S. has not increased. During that same period, yields have risen by nearly 20%. Every kernel of corn can produce both ethanol from the starch and quality feed from the high-protein distillers grains. America’s world-class producers are able to provide food AND fuel without sacrificing either.

More misinformation: year-round E15 is NOT A MANDATE. It allows retailers to sell more affordable fuel options all year. It’s extremely simple - a vote for E15 is a vote for lower fuel prices.

I voted for this year's Farm Bill to provide regulatory relief, expand market access, and equip Nebraska’s ag producers with the resources they need to succeed. But let me be clear: I will not rest until nationwide, year-round E15 is a reality once and for all. I look forward to continuing to work with my colleagues and House Leadership as we prepare to bring E15 to the floor.

This is why I am fighting for nationwide, year-round E15. It creates new markets for Nebraska's ag producers AND it provides consumers more affordable options at the pump.

This is welcome news for Lexington and all who were impacted by the sudden closure of the Tyson facility. An interesting exchange at the Ways & Means hearing: A witness from Protect Our Care blamed H.R. 1 for causing health facilities to close, including a nursing home in the district of Rep. Adrian Smith of Nebraska, who is at the hearing. However, the CEO behind that nursing home, Wright Lassiter of CommonSpirit, is also witness at the hearing. Smith asked Lassiter if the home closed because of H.R. 1, and Lassiter confirmed that it closed for unrelated reasons. This is a reminder that advocacy reports that supposedly detail the impact of H.R. 1 cannot be taken at face value.

At a time where corn prices are no longer sustainable—nationwide, year-round E15 would increase demand by over 2 billion bushels a year. It's time for Congress to give America's biofuel producers the certainty, opportunity, and market development they deserve.

I refuse to prioritize the livelihood of a mid-sized refiner—one that is duplicitous about its needs depending on the audience—over the livelihood of ag producers, who continue to call for nationwide, year-round E15. It's past time we change the current status quo.

America’s ag producers feed, fuel, and clothe our world but the reality is there are some products they do not produce. Moving forward, I’ll continue to encourage @USTR to consider industry comments regarding treatment of inputs not domestically available.
