This funding is welcomed news for Nebraska’s agricultural producers who farm the nearly 55,000 acres this canal supports. Since the tunnel’s collapse in 2019, I have worked to secure the resources needed to rebuild this critical irrigation project and get water flowing again. Irrigation is the lifeblood of western Nebraska agriculture, and this investment—made possible by the Working Families Tax Cuts I proudly supported—brings us one step closer to that goal. I look forward to working with the Trump administration to ensure that this funding is appropriately distributed so both Nebraska and Wyoming are able to reap its full benefits.

Strong markets depend on strong infrastructure. That’s why I was proud to lead the FRIDGE Act and secure its inclusion in the Farm Bill—boosting refrigeration and cold storage at our ports so Iowa-raised beef, pork, turkey, and chicken can reach global markets without spoilage.

Harming a law enforcement working animal is appalling and evil. As a dog lover and someone who adamantly supports the working dogs who have served on the front lines, voting in favor of this bill was one of the easiest decisions of my congressional career.

Parents should be able to pass their farms on to their children and grandchildren without facing devastating tax burdens. That’s why the Working Families Tax Cuts made permanent and increased the Death Tax exemption for over two million family farms, helping preserve family businesses and farms for future generations. Today, H.R. 556, the Protecting Access for Hunters and Anglers Act, passed the House. I co-sponsored this bill to ensure continued access to hunting and fishing and to prevent unnecessary federal restrictions on ammunition and tackle. With millions of acres of public land in #CO03, access to these lands is essential for sportsmen across our region. This legislation helps keep decisions grounded in sound science and practical impacts, not policies that increase costs or limit participation in the outdoors.

Proud to introduce the Don Young–Doug LaMalfa Indian Buffalo Management Act with Teresa Leger Fernández, Julie Fedorchak, and Dan Newhouse. This bipartisan bill supports tribes and tribal organizations in managing buffalo herds, restoring habitat, and expanding economic opportunities tied to conservation. Buffalo have long been central to the history, culture, and livelihoods of tribal communities. This legislation puts tribes in the lead, ensuring conservation efforts are driven by those best positioned to sustain and manage these herds for the long term. #CO03 🦬

Today, I met with Matt Washburn of the Northwest Iowa Power Cooperative and the Mid-West Electric Consumers Association. We had a productive discussion on the importance of hydropower and the federal power program—and how to best leverage these resources to deliver reliable, affordable energy for Iowans.

On Monday, the House passed my bill, the Shivwits Band of Paiutes Jurisdictional Clarity Act. This legislation strengthens the Shivwits Band’s sovereignty by clarifying the Tribe’s authority over its own lands and removing barriers to economic development on the reservation. Acting Shivwits Band Council Chairwoman Hope Silvas spoke in support of the bill, saying: “The Shivwits Band’s self-determination and independence depend on clear federal statutory authorization…Economic development is not an abstract policy goal for the Shivwits Band; rather, it is a matter of community well-being, infrastructure improvement, job creation, housing, health services, and long-term stability for future generations.“

Tractor overturns are the leading cause of death on farms—and fatal rollovers cause 70% of farms to close within five years. That’s why I introduced the Roll-Over Protection and Safety (ROPS) Act, which passed unanimously as an amendment in the Farm Bill.
